Elephants Ndlula, Umngani, and Khosi formed a circle around the youngsters Zuli and Mkhaya. The herd stayed in formation for about four minutes according to Fox5, and continued to stay close to each other afterward. Very cool.

Look at this extraordinarily brave elephant herd, staying together, protecting their young and fighting raging waters ! Heartbreaking, yet an extraordinary story of resilience. Amid the devastating floods in Nepal, a herd of five wild elephants, three adults and two young calves, was swept into the powerful currents eventually reaching the Girijapuri Barrage in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. The adults stayed with the struggling calves, battling the current to protect them. In a timely intervention, Forest and Irrigation Department teams reduced the force of the water at the barrage and guided the herd safely towards the riverbank and back into the forest. A herd of around 30 wild elephants—from tiny calves to full-grown adults, including the matriarch—appeared at Kruger National Park in South Africa. 🐘 In a special moment, while on the move, the entire herd suddenly approached a tourist safari vehicle… and then decided to settle down and sleep right beside it! The baby elephants stretched out on the ground for a nap, while the adults slept standing, as elephants naturally do. As a result, the vehicle was “stuck” in the middle of the herd for over an hour. The herd slept peacefully and trustingly right beside the vehicle, creating a scene that was both adorable and a super rare “elephant traffic jam.” 💖✨
