When I brought my first rescue home, I introduced him to my other three, then took them for a walk (he kept getting his leash tangled), then I fed them -- standard fare for the others, but by far the best meal of his life to that point. Then it was time to settle down for the night. I sat in the middle of a couch with one dog on one side, and the other dogs on other furniture. I invited my new boy to get up next to me on my couch. It was obviously a new experience for him. He put one paw up, then looked around and saw all the other dogs lying on furniture, and decided it must be OK. He got all the way up, then started turning around -- he must have turned around 30 or 40 times, but he finally settled in. When his head came to rest on the sofa armrest, he had the biggest grin on his face you can imagine. I watched a movie, and for a couple of hours, that grin never left his face. (His face must have hurt!) That sort of joy is unmatchable.

I can’t go to the shelter. My wife and I have adopted six shelter dogs and nine cats over the past 28 years, including our current guys below. But my wife has always gone to get them because if I went, I’d want to take them all home.

I bet that dog was crushed emotionally. She thought she was being adopted, had a great day, and then was returned to the shelter. This person is selfish. That dog probably lays in her cell at night wondering what she did wrong.

Then the dog goes into depression because it thinks it was rejected when she brings it back These videos only benefit the losers recording them

For those with negative comments - many shelters have a “take a dog out for a day” program. The dogs get a break from their doggie cubicle & go on a day trip with a volunteer. The dogs might wear an ‘adopt me’ harness & the humans take photos for social media for adoption- sheesh

I have adopted a dog very similar in breed and she is such a sweet, loving dog. She always wants cuddles & belly rubs. Her only problem is that she chews anything she can get to, despite her many bones. But we all love her, so we just have to make sure we watch her. As she gets older she will probably outgrow it.🥰🤔☝️✝️🙏🤣

Yeah, my oldest son did something similar, wherein he volunteered to walk one of our local shelter's dogs because they were short on staff. Guess who did not go back to the shelter after the first walk...

She seems so excited. I hate how pit bulls get a bad rap. I rescued one and she was abused and breed for puppies. Had her for over 10 years and she was loyal as hell. She was only aggressive if I wasn’t comfortable or if you got too close to my wife or kids. I miss her.

My brother bought my dad a pit bull puppy and I remember being pissed….. Turned out that dog was the absolute sweetest dog I’ve ever been around. Still can’t run from the breeds history of horrific dog attacks.
