Please correct yourself. TedX is not paid, some of the agencies doing things unethically is the problem which is completely against the TedX guidelines.

I am not saying it. I am only sharing what this influencer is saying and asking people if it happened with them also

What are you doing is not just misleading but also defaming. If any agency is trying to sell any TEDx talk spot, then the organizer will immediately get their license revoked for life if the person reports about that organizer to TEDx team. TEDx has given platform to thousands of people whose talks have geninely taught people, and given them an opportunity to get discovered. Disappointing post. Lastly, it's TEDx and not TedEx, you can do better as a writer.

Similar PR agencies approached me; charges were around 75K to 1 L for a city-based TEDx. I ignored it, but realised that many shady individuals had managed to appear on TEDx; a few of them I know personally. In Maharashtra, these Tedex talks are being controlled by certain individuals, unapproachable and arrogant sods.

TED talks across the globe might not charge, TedX does. The local chapters of each city or college which has the rights is hijacked by the organizers who are nothing less than a glorified event organizer having the IP for that city talk. Family run TEDx Surat is biggest example.

Honestly, I was never fully convinced by many of these "inspirational" stories because they often sound too perfect. I once heard such a story about someone I personally knew. That is when I understood how these narratives are built: the messy parts, the privilege, the financial support, the lucky breaks, and the contradictions are quietly removed so the final version looks like pure passion, struggle, and grit. In that case, the person had significant financial help at a critical stage. Without that support, even starting the business would have been difficult. Yet the public version of the story made it sound as if passion and "never give up" alone were the whole reason for success. That is exactly the problem. Once you remove the most important facts, what remains may sound inspiring, but it starts looking more like fiction than truth. Since then, I have found it hard to take many such speakers seriously. Some are excellent communicators, but communication skill is not the same as honesty. Too often, students are sold polished narratives instead of real journeys with context, privilege, compromise, and contradiction.

It’s true I get this 100 times by PR agencies

You may be wrong here, we have organized TEDx talk during our college days. And there was no paid thing. It may be some PR companies using the Tedx name and doing unethically with independent TEDx talk event orgnisers

Completely incorrect information. I can say this because I am part of the organizing team of the TEDx event. As per the guidelines, nobody is asked to pay, and if any agency is doing this, it is completely unethical. These agencies have nothing to do with TEDx or anyone involved

A very respected newspaper agency reached out to me and literally tried to sell me an award in my field of work, a newspaper article, and a felicitation program by a very popular actor, all for a price. I lost my respect for awards since then.

Mam Tedex lost all credibility when then invite Instagram models like Nikita Sharma who live by display of body and semi nude pics...what you are saying makes full sense

Looks like an Indian scam of some sort. Ted neither charges nor pays.

@truthseeker0908 Not surprising, every award being given out is for money. All these top 100 MSME awards, Fastest growing MSME is all paid. I've been on stage collecting it on behalf of one such company.

.....shocking....

Thanks - I was also reached out and I had the same feeling… firstly how did they even reach out to me? And why? I’m not even famous.. plus I’m just an ordinary tax paying citizen - meri life main masala kaise dhoondh rahe hain

She thinks she discovered something new

Don't know if TedX is fake or not but for sure extremely mediocre. Hence TED has to release the annual top 10 TedX talks..😊

This is latest trick in the market. Position yourself as an mediator with the platform. Had a follow up from an agency which asked for 1.3L to make it @EconomicTimes Women's Enclave 2026. It's another thing that despite reporting to ED'S grievance cell, there has been no revert.

I agree with her. I have come across many such Tedx Talks in which speakers don't even know their shit, one speech was even lifted entirely from one of my old LinkedIn posts.

Have several people in my team who have been on Ted Talks. None Paid.

What was the talk going to be about? Tattoos? 🤔🤣

Everything is paid from TedX to all these awards shows!!!

TED talks was real things but TEDx is just a cheap version of it.

.@TEDTalks @TEDx this seems like a local dysfunction if true?

TedX is a cheap knockoff of Ted talk.

It’s true

What is she exposing?

I have delivered two TEDx talks and was never asked to pay. In fact, they paid for my travel, food, and accommodation. Some may be scams, but largely this is not true.

@striver_79 .

TedX and Joshtalk all are Scam

Lol isly kabhi samaj hi nhi aya ye video sab itna fleunt and itna systematic life is not like that

But, what exactly was the need to put her cleaveage in focus ?

This is absolutely shameful! It is a fraud !

Maine to YouTube par bhi na dekha aaj tak. It’s for losers .

TedX turned to TurdX, over a decade ago. * Heartbreaking decline of one of the finest platforms.
