Historic steps are being taken at Baku Stadium for energy efficiency and sustainability at COP29. Baku Stadium, the venue for the COP29 conference to be held from November 11-22, will use three main renewable energy sources to meet its electricity needs: Solar Energy System, HVO biofuel generators, and hydroelectric power plants. Towards COP29 with Green Energy! A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and Green Energy Power Plant LLC under Azerenerji OJSC. The main purpose of the five-party agreement signed between the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, Azerenerji OJSC, Azerishig OJSC, Stadium Operating Company LLC, and Green Energy Power Plant LLC is to ensure relevant cooperation and coordination. During the organization of the conference, a series of measures were taken to minimize carbon emissions in line with sustainability strategies. WATCH: A group of graduating Electrical Engineering students of the Eastern Visayas State University in Tacloban City developed a locally sourced renewable energy system that generates 70 percent of its power from solar energy and 30 percent from hydropower, providing electricity to at least five streetlights along a farm-to-market road in Barangay Socsocon in Pastrana, Leyte. They turned over the project to local officials on Friday (May 15, 2026). The hydropower component harnesses energy from the existing flow of irrigation water without disrupting agricultural operations. It is reliable, dispatchable, and produces virtually no CO2 - yet many environmental groups oppose new dams. The same contradiction appears with nuclear power. Nuclear produces zero operational CO2, runs 24 hours a day, and uses far less land than wind or solar. If cutting emissions were truly the priority here, the focus would be obvious: Hydropower and nuclear, not endless wind and solar expansion.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. Through changing times, China-Pakistan friendship has remained as strong as iron, with the two countries often termed as "Iron Brothers", while green cooperation is becoming a new highlight of bilateral ties. Located on the Jhelum River in Pakistan, the 720 MW Karot Hydropower Project, developed by CTG and operated by CSAIL, is known as Pakistan's version of "Three Gorges Project". It is the first major CPEC hydropower project in commercial operation and the first large-scale hydropower investment project under the Belt and Road Initiative. With an average annual output of about 3.206 billion kWh, it can meet the electricity demand of more than five million local people. CSAIL also operates three wind farms in Jhimpir, Sindh, with a combined installed capacity of 148.5 MW. Together, they deliver about 443 GWh of clean electricity every year, enough to meet the power needs of more than 600,000 people. But this partnership is not only about electricity. Beyond power generation, CSAIL has supported biodiversity protection along the Jhelum River, community infrastructure, roads, bridges, water systems, hospitals, schools, scholarships and flood relief. From hydropower to wind power, from energy supply to community support, these projects show how clean energy cooperation can bring long-term value to people, nature and development.
