That is not happening in a vacuum. Supply disruptions, tariff-driven inventory shifts and long-term demand from AI, grids, EVs and data centers are all tightening the narrative. The long-term numbers are even bigger: IEA: potential 25% copper supply gap by 2035. S&P Global: demand could rise from 28.3Mt in 2025 to 42.4Mt by 2040, with a possible 10.1Mt annual shortfall. BHP: global copper demand could grow from roughly 34Mt in 2026 to 50Mt+ by 2050, while data-center demand alone could approach 3Mt/year. That is why I am watching the entire copper chain: $BHP - global heavyweight with major copper growth plans. $FCX - direct large-scale copper exposure and one of the key names when supply gets tight. $SCCO - major Peru and Mexico producer with huge leverage to copper prices. $RIO - Oyu Tolgoi gives it one of the sector biggest long-term growth assets. $GLEN - diversified mining giant with meaningful copper exposure NRED - the speculative explorer angle, advancing Wilmac in British Columbia with surface values up to 1.67% Cu, a modeled 42-hectare chargeability target, and multiple untested exploration zones The majors are about today supply NRED is about the part of the cycle traders often overlook: where tomorrow copper could come from. When demand is accelerating, mine development can take roughly 17 years, and existing ore grades are declining, new credible exploration targets become strategically more important Copper is no longer just an EV trade. The Egyptian Blue - more than just a colour... Around 200 years ago, chemist and inventor Sir Humphry Davy went to the ruins of Titus’ baths in Rome. There, ‘amongst some rubbish, [he] found several large lumps of a deep blue frit’. Soon after, Davy found the same material on a pot in Pompeii. He realised that he had rediscovered the material ‘of which the manufacture is said to have been anciently established at Alexandria’, the first synthetic pigment, Egyptian blue. The tale of Egyptian blue’s discovery, ‘disappearance’ and rediscovery is a fascinating one, and illustrates beautifully how art can act as a facilitator for the advancement of chemistry. For the ancient Egyptians, blue was a very important colour. It was associated with the sky and the river Nile, and thus came to represent the universe, creation and fertility. However, in ancient times, only the earth colours (colours provided by the surface soil) were used as pigments – blue could not be easily obtained by Egyptian artists. Indeed, the only natural source of blue was the rare and expensive mineral lapis lazuli, which was mined in what is now Afghanistan. However, at around 2600 BC, Egyptian blue enters the historical record, and use of the pigment gradually spread across the ancient world as far as Mesopotamia and the Roman empire before being apparently lost in the dark ages. Sadly no Egyptian recipe for the pigment remains, but Vitruvius, a Roman writer in the 1st century BC, stated that sand, copper (from a mineral such as azurite or malachite) and natron (a naturally occurring mixture of sodium compounds, including sodium carbonate) were the ingredients. Modern experiments show that Egyptian blue (chemical formula: CaCuSi4O10) can be obtained by heating these chemicals to 800–900°C with the addition of lime, a calcium-containing material, which must have been present in the ancient method, probably as an impurity in the sand. Whether its discovery came about by design or chance, the synthesis of Egyptian blue was a seriously impressive accomplishment. Achieving necessary temperature control for successful reaction would have been a major challenge, as indeed would the correct addition of oxygen. Another testament to the skill of Egyptian chemists is consistency of the pigment throughout history. Composition in artworks such as the mastaba (tombs) of Mereruka, from the Old Kingdom (2600–2100 BC), is almost exactly the same as that found in a mummy coffin dating from the Greco-Roman period (330 BC–AD 400), and there are other examples dated between these two that show similar compositions. In an exciting development for chemists and artists, it was reported in 2009 that Egyptian blue shows exceptional luminescence in the near-infrared region.3 This means that the pigment can be easily detected in a completely non-destructive fashion simply by illuminating ancient works of art with near-infrared radiation. The luminescence is so strong that the presence of minute amounts of Egyptian blue can be detected even when no blue colour is visible to the naked eye. The British Museum was able to use this technique to provide the first proof that the Elgin Marbles had once been painted, finding the pigment on several sculptures from the Parthenon. 🎥© Hidden Epochs #archaeohistories

"Filmed three days ago at Eastside Animal Services in Tucson, Arizona. The woman is Nina. She's 38 years old. Works as a pharmacy technician. The dog is a tan mixed-breed named Copper. Six years old. Nina surrendered Copper fourteen months ago when her landlord issued a no-pets ultimatum after a neighbor complained about barking. Nina had rented that apartment for four years. She had no savings to move quickly. She had one week to find a solution. She couldn't find pet-friendly housing in time. She brought Copper to Eastside Animal Services on a Thursday morning. She asked the intake coordinator to write in the file that Copper liked scrambled eggs and was afraid of ceiling fans. She wanted whoever adopted him to know those things. Nobody adopted Copper in fourteen months. Nina moved to a rental house in October. Pet-friendly. Fenced yard. The first thing she did after unpacking was start calling shelters. She found Copper on the third call. The shelter coordinator brought Copper into the hallway where Nina was waiting. Copper stopped at the end of the hallway and went completely still. Just looked at Nina. Four seconds. Five seconds. Not moving. Then he ran. He hit Nina at full speed and she went back against the wall and they both slid down to the floor. Nina couldn't speak. She just held him. Copper had his face buried in her neck and his whole body was shaking. The staff member filming stepped back and didn't say anything. Nina sat on that floor for a long time. Eventually she looked up and said: "He remembered. After fourteen months, he still remembered me." The intake coordinator later pulled Copper's file. The scrambled eggs note was still there. The ceiling fan note was still there. She said: "We read those notes to every volunteer who walked his kennel. Everyone knew those things about him. Nina made sure of that even when she had to leave him." Copper went home that afternoon. He slept the entire car ride with his head in Nina's lap. Sometimes the pause before the run is the most honest moment. It's the one second where a heart makes absolutely sure before it lets itself believe.

🇦🇷 Milei Opens Argentina’s Glaciers to Mining in Win for BHP, Glencore and Lundin Argentina’s Congress voted 137-111 Thursday to gut the country’s 2010 Glacier Law, handing a major victory to President Javier Milei and the global mining industry after nearly 12 hours of debate and thousands of protesters outside parliament. 🔹The projects most immediately unlocked include the Vicuña joint venture between BHP, the world’s largest miner, and Lundin Mining, the Vancouver-based mining group, along with Glencore, one of the world’s largest raw materials traders, and its El Pachón copper project in Argentina’s San Juan province near the Chilean border. 🔹El Pachón alone carries a $9.5 billion price tag and had been delayed by glacier protection rules. U.S. mining entrepreneur Rob McEwen copper venture is also expected to benefit through its Los Azules project, one of Argentina’s largest undeveloped copper deposits. Mining sector estimates say the new framework could unlock more than $30 billion in investment over the next decade, with 70% earmarked for copper, gold and silver. 🔹The key shift: the reform strips a federal scientific body of its authority to designate protected glaciers, handing that power to provincial governments — most of which are pro-mining.  Critics say provinces will simply greenlight any glacier that stands in the way of extraction. 🔹In the northwest, where mining is concentrated, glacial reserves have already shrunk 17% in the last decade.  Environmental lawyers warned the reform threatens the water supply of 70% of Argentinians. 🔹Environmental groups have vowed to challenge the law in court. Milei, who does not believe in man-made climate change, replied: “Environmentalists would rather see us starve than have anything touched.”
