Back home after few weeks reporting in #Lebanon. Keep coming back to this unpublished poem by Khatoun Salma. Her daughter Ghida found it in the rubble of the building where her Mum & Dad were killed by an Israeli strike (8th April). Part premonition, part Lebanon’s love song

Reporting from Khan Younis, we are headed to a house that was targeted by an Israeli air strike. The civil defence were working to extract bodies from under the rubble. I saw them pull the body of a young man who was killed by the strike. I have to head back to the middle area before it gets dark, as it is very dangerous to move at night.

At least 11 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon. Lebanese officials said three children were among seven people killed when an Israeli strike hit a home in the village of Ansar. The Israeli military claimed it had hit Hezbollah infrastructure in response to an attack by the group on their troops. Lebanon's prime minister said it undermined efforts to stabilise the situation in the south of the country.
