The real "back to basics" with Reina would simply have ff2 only transition to SEN on hit.

Yeah that would be more realistic but show casing the freedom to step felt nice.

@kingvegeta_bap "Freedom to step" is baller af. Like some sorta Tekken amendment

@kingvegeta_bap lmao it does sound like that

Out of all the broken characters on this game lmao she barely gets tournament representation

It'd be cool seeing her more. Cool character especially story wise. Mainly just this particular move that drives me crazy.

Itโs more stupid stuff in the game than nerfing the 3rd best Mishima lol Anna Bryan asuka before anyone else even gets looked at

I hear that argument alot. There is worse yes. Stance slop in general. Especially when accessed from a move this quick. All these new approach tools and stance frames and it'll drive you insane.

Reina is not a problem character in the least lol

@overflowyouknow Nigga definitely a ff2 demon ๐

@overflowyouknow I main Kazuya

This already exist and would be more consistent if sen3 was a single frame slower ob. Which would make defense a little harder than just sidestep. Either way if u ask me back 2 basics would mean kill launching ff2's and stance entry ob

What you're showing has an insanely tight window but that's cool most of it is possible. I could imagine online this being a nightmare even with bufferable sidesteps.

It's hard because of ff2 being so fast. Sen3 makes the input seqeunce real tight too. Though not impossible online I'm more for just killing the stance entry ob. Not just Reina but all. Also stupid lows like AK ffn2 going into stance. It all sucks to play against man

so thats why they will give reina new homing move I see

I forgot they showed that in the trailer already :/ in all fairness that stance is less offensive than whatever tf SEN is.

Ff2 should not even go in stance on ob only on hit

That's the easiest option but I feel giving the opponent the freedom to enter stance feels more natural. I guess it wouldn't matter anyway because on hit you're not stepping anyway. Especially ff2 since it guarantees hits.

Itโs an ugly design ff2 should come slower itโs too easy to spam and getting away with it but since " stepableโ they think okay to have it

Not bad, but will never happen with their "philosophy"

Yeah that's the thing with anything I post. It's all a pipe dream 99% of the time. Everything in her stance seems incredibly deliberate which is a shame.

Just a general question, are tracking and string realignment an intended thing or bugs/broken hitboxes they never tested?

All of the above. It's a double edged sword because you want all hits to connect when they need to but when it gets in the way of a string that's meant to be stepped around then it's a problem. Hitboxes do alot for attacks too. You'd be surprised that half of her attacks in this stance kept connecting even after I stripped all tracking due to the wonky hitboxes. SEN 1+2 and SEN 1, 2 are meant to hit super low and the hitbox they chose causes alot of tracking even when the move never visually connects with a stepping opponent. I do feel some of it is untested but I always wonder if they felt it was fine or they didn't want to go through the trouble of fixing it for different situations it could happen in. It's a pretty easy fix for most moves ngl. At least in my testing and modding.

Thanks for the explaination!

Sen 3 animation doesn't even look like a homing move lol I think the throws still should be homing or give sen2 charge property to catch side steps so its not a full option select Transition should stay on block so the character has more freedom

Yeah when I removed the homing from it I was like this was being forced the whole time lol. Still tracks the other side reliably though which makes sense. I actually did have the throw homing originally and SS duck was still possible albeit alot tighter of a window. SEN 2 is a cool idea. Like Paul's ub2 charge. Transition could be come safe on block too if nothing is done. That allows it to become a hit confirm situation.

Hell yeah no more homing heat engagers, no more2D fighting :3

I would love for those to be universally stripped from the game.

This game has a lot of tracking moves man. Tekken 8 needs a dev like you for the balance team. Always good shit brother๐

Thank you man. I'm just a messenger lol. Maybe. Probably not.

The true savior of tekken

The crazy part is you can see all the tracking they gave her lol

Yeah I had to strip ALOT away to actually make even the non homing attacks whiff when I step. Fun fact her mids have more tracking because of the hitboxes associated. SEN 1+2 and SEN 1, 2 hit stupidly low in combos so they always connect. That unfortunately created weird tracking too.

This is what they need. For Lars and reina tracking should cease to exist after block on ff2 and others

Quick attacks into stance shouldn't be plus ๐คทโโ๏ธ.Reina gets special demon paw privledges. Hers doesn't launch or knockdown sure but it's 3 frames quicker with a corny mixup on block.

I agree

temu8 shills will find this ridiculous cuz the mix doesnt end at layer 1 ๐คฏ

Temu8 lol. I like showing stuff like this becauseit kind of makes people realize how good they have it. The amount of tracking I had to strip from those moves was alot too man. ff2 can be a fantastic move and approach tool. But as you said layers. Let's end it on block and on hit well I'm taking the heat engager mix but it is what it is.

Amazing concept, ff2 carries Reina players extremely hard. Move literally plays neutral for you.

One of the best approach tools in the game. Which is fine if toned down a little. Even when you know the counterplay it's dumb. Move actually destroys you if you don't know anything.

I agree, itโs fine if a move that strong grants a heat engager on hit but the fact that thereโs a mixup on block is just too much. Move is already super scary to try to attempt to step anyway. Reina players wonโt like it but it takes some of the casino aspects of t8 away.

Is this amazing clip official?

I wish. I wanted to label it "Season 3 leak" like I do some other stuff as a joke lol but decided against it.

Wish this was how she was normally

You know what's funny is the reactions to this show how over reliant on ff2 Reina mains are. This wouldn't kill her at all. "Sorry I want to be able to utilize movement after blocking. My bad." lol

It's very telling, really lol

nice option select ๐

I don't mind the 3 being a homing, but being able to step one side and avoid the other inputs is definitely a plus. It'll create some productive counterplay while still not nerfing Reina completely.

Finally

Me if I sucked even harder at game design:

The only thing i would change here is make Sen3 a black trail so it only tracks one side, but holy fuck this would be beautiful

the change that would showcase how 95% of reina's have 0 idea on how to play this character and actually start using manual sen throws instead of neutral skip with an i13 mixup oB crutch

It would be cool to see how they adapt. It'd still be a heat engager essentially. Forced to hit confirm only.

which you easily can as well, like ff2sen gives you ample time to confirm either ender (which is why yagami does single ff2 oB at times and uses that as a mixup, which then also becomes a more vital mixup at high level)

Not bad Id geniunely be happy if ff2 was only transitioning into sen on hit lol The only thing id disagree is the tracking on the throw cuz that has some fun uses in neutral, but like i wouldnt make a peep at it being gone if everyone else gets simalar treatment

Was originally going to keep the throw homing because the same counterplay was actually possible just a bit tighter due to the throw being 16f as opposed to 20f like the low. SS duck still worked. Alot of people are saying on hit only and while that's the easiest fix it feels nicer being able to enter stance. It could be made safe as a tradeoff for all this. Hit confirm only. On hit you're not really stepping any of this even with the homing and tracking removed. On moves that aren't ff2 that is because it guarantees hits.

Fair enough lmao An underrated and funny utility of sen is just to do it raw or out of wavedash Sen in ff2 is extremely meh to me anyway,it is annoying to deal with but its gross to use and fdels ineffective after a certain fucking point. I like it alot more raw in neutral lol

So make all moves useless?

Now they're rolling in :) it's called counterplay. And I don't mean just a downjab. On hit you still get SEN 2 and SEN 3. Changes the situation on block. If you see this as useless I don't know what to say.

@phonedecalz So if only sen2 and sen3 on hit are usable what is the point of the rest of the stance?

@phonedecalz She has other moves that enter SEN on hit without guaranteed hits and when she's plus almost none of this is getting stepped (her new low from S2, f23 etc.. Could be used as oki or out in the open but she probably has better options for that.

I would actually use Reina if she had clear weaknesses as shown in this video.

Yes please

This would be an excellent change for her

This is not "back to basics", tho A true "back to basics" would demand more strict defensive maneuvers such as SSL duck to cover the most/all possibilities You won't find stances in which you could simply SS or casually SW ALL options: at the very least, one option would beat you

Yeah SEN 1+2 should retain its tracking for an unsafe but hard callout.

Yes, they should all be option selectable, which in turn would make the user be more mindful of using these approach tools and they start switch up the timing, instead of just press this button after this move and so on. Current T8 stance slop is horrible design @nkt_dreamer

This is wack

Isn't the high kick the only homing move ? And all the rest were the same as in now? Reina's ff2 into mixup is very balanced..

3 homing moves. 12f homing high which basically means no time to sidestep duck. 16f unbreakable homing throw lmao. 20f homing low string that is death on block but still. She has mids that track to each side. I'm sorry you feel it's balanced. An attack of that speed giving any kind of mixup is wack. If I downjab I risk getting hit by SEN 4 or powercrushed. If I try to jab the powercrush becomes safes, I trade with SEN 3, or I get low crushed by SEN 3+4. What kind of design is that?

I donโt think that makes ssl duck an option select to her ff2 is good cuz we need some mind games this is the real tekken basic (Reina hater btw)

If all options out of the stance transition can be OS via ssr+duck then what's the point of the ff2 into stance at all? This guts the move too much, even for a "dream world scenario" this is too much.

This is PERFECT

Soโฆjust SSR into attack?๐

Crazy concept I know but it's great. Sick of her bullshit lol

Please god make this happen
