My kids HATED History.. When I mentioned movies that happened in the era of whatever topic they were discussing.. Like Henry the Viii they were more interested. I always thought History should be taught like a soap opera 🤣

To be honest, this lack of understanding is what leads to a lot of unnecessary arguments or confusion. It also adds to why people don’t get argument expansion or extension in general conversation.

@YMBIBI Yes, good examples, but why assume kids don't know what they're doing when they use metaphors, similes etc? Hip hop/Black culture has always valued wit, intelligence, improvisation etc

I would have loved a language teacher using slang for lesson concepts this is great.

also some kids not understanding "you the-" is the same as "you('re) the-" like how some people were misusing "body tea" as a terminology of its own when really it was a whole sentence, as in "body (is) tea"😭😭😭

I’m a retired high school English teacher and used to use popular commercials on TV to teach lessons like this. When teaching non fiction I’d find weird articles like “Why do our feet smell” to use because it’s more interesting and funny and laughter always helped.❤️
