Back to the Future was the biggest box office hit of 1985, spending two solid months at number 1. When I was a kid I thought Michael J. Fox was the coolest person on the planet. 40 years later, I still think Michael J. Fox is the coolest person...

I remember persuading my Dad to tow me with the car whilst I was on my skateboard, listening to Huey Lewis on my Walkman. He now denies all knowledge, claiming he'd never be so reckless. 🤣

It was very fortuitous that Chuck Berry's cousin Marvin was playing with him at The Enchainment Under the Sea Dance to give him his new sound. This is an example of a Bootstrap Paradox.

I love movies, but this one is in my top three. Even 40 years after its release, I still enjoy watching it. It's permanently on my recordings page. Even my kids know all the words to it! I'm a writer (and part-time script reader), and the writing blows me away every time I read or watch it. It's so crisp and smooth, and you can tell every single line delivers something. There are so many great scenes, but I love the one where he's having dinner in 1955 with Lorraine (his mom), and they reference Joey in his crib (behind bars). After Marty leaves, Sam says: "He's an idiot. Comes from upbringing. Parents were probably idiots too. Lorraine, if you ever have a kid like that, I'll disown you."

The scene where he's skateboarding and latches on to a truck was epic back then.

One aspect of the movie that few talk about is how Doc delegated authority to Marty to do tasks that were so vitally important they could change the timeline of Earth. Your average 17yr old in 2025 isn't treated with such trust and responsibility.

The first ad agency I worked at was in the same building as the Michael J Fox foundation. When the elevator opened to that floor. Their lobby featured the famous Nike Shoe from BTTF 2. And they always had lunch catered.
