back when I first started doing art I always wanted to learn to render like this, but halfway through this piece I thought, this is getting into kinda-ai-looking territory. It's a bit sad how ai "devalued" some styles

Completely agree, AI threw me for a loop. I found my taste had rapidly changed as a consequence of AI. The biggest thing for me was that detail and "realistic lighting" became something I was really facinated with and enjoyed to something I strayed away from and felt cheap.

It truly did. It also lowered the quality standards, like before I'd look at stuff and think "this is not good" now I think "this is human made real art" -and the worst part is that now most people can't tell the difference! and AI can fake timelapses now too 😪

My opinion is AI is a TOOL not a "Holy Grail" REPLCEMENT for actually investing your time & passion into doing the work yourself.

AI cannot replicate skill. It is easy to tell from the facial structure and shading on the back that this was made dutifully made by an experienced artist ❤️‍🔥

AI didnt devalue a style 🙄 Plus, this looks nothing like the standard 'AI slop'. This has digital disgaea vibes. The only styles that are "devalued" are styles that were easily replicable. Thats not this style.
