This mom makes her eleven year old son walk a mile around the neighborhood before he can have any screen time. She said she does this to regulate his mood and energy, to build discipline to let him know fun comes after the effort, not the other way around, and, it reduces arguments - you work first and then play later, the expectations are set. Many people focused on his walking around the neighborhood by himself but she says she lives in a neighborhood where she feels very comfortable. A lot of people applauded her for making her son get outside, that it was not only healthy for his body but for his mind as well. She said this is not a punishment. I think kids in this day and age need to be forced to get outside. Too many of us allow them to stare at screens all day long. I applaud her for her routine with her son. What do you think of her morning routine for her eleven year old son?

Kai Trump crying in a parked car before college is not a scandal. It is proof she was raised by people who actually loved her. She is a Trump. She is also an 18-year-old leaving home and feeling it. Those two things can sit in the same sentence. Those tears mean she was loved and she knows it. Money does not cancel that. Fame does not cancel that. A last name does not cancel that. She is heading to the University of Miami to play golf and start a life. She will excel. She has drive like her grandfather in more ways than one. A President Kai is not crazy to imagine. Kelly Osbourne was sick, grieving her father, and getting mocked for how she looked. That is not concern. That is cruelty. She told Hello! today she was not well, she is getting better, and the work starts in her head before it shows up in her body. Recovery is slow. She said so. The people who treated her grief like a before-and-after contest should sit with that. Celebrate the part that matters. She is putting one foot in front of the other and keeping the people who stayed. Leave her body alone. Every one of us will face something that knocks us down. Be grateful for the people who show real concern and never reach for mockery. Keep those people close.

This is Bertha - and this is exactly the situation I have been struggling with. She was my first cow purchase. Bought her as a milk cow and then soon learned she was mostly past time for being a good milk cow. She’s about 14 or 15 years old. Still gives a calf each year but her time for a natural end is coming quickly. Many would take her to the sale barn, receive some money for her. It’s difficult to explain but that feels wrong - it’s not, but it feels terrible. So at this point she will likely live her life out here, she’ll serve as a lead cow (she’s really not great for that either), but she will do okay. She means a lot to me and I just don’t want to think of her at auction or otherwise being transported somewhere away from this farm. So for now, and likely until her very end, she remains here.

Baby on board! If our maths is correct, Tagwa will have a baby before the year’s end. She is getting bigger and slower – all signs that she’s in the final phases of her pregnancy. While some of our expectant mums are famous for their mood swings (ahem, Murera), Tagwa has been as calm as ever. We can’t wait to meet her baby, whenever it arrives! In January 2025, a wild bull showed up at Voi and spent several days courting Tagwa. The gestation period of an elephant is 22 months, which means that her due date is drawing ever closer. In her voice notes she no longer sounds as if she is fighting for every breath. She feels every prayer and every kindness you have sent her way. I promise you, she has all of you to thank for that. The tragic: she received terrible news today and is carrying a deep personal loss. You will not see her here for a long while, if at all. When she has the energy, she still writes on Substack now and then. Follow her there so you don’t miss her when she can speak. I made this silly little Halloween video to try to lift her spirits. I love Halloween, and let’s be honest, she has always been our own personal Queen of the Night. She is asking that no one reach out right now. What she is walking through is very heavy. Some victories deserve to be celebrated loudly, and this is one of them. Today, my wife was called to the largest Bar in Africa, and words can hardly express how proud I am of her. Let me tell you about the incredible woman she is. Her journey wasn't just about law school, it was about resilience. She resumed law school only to discover she was pregnant with our son, an unexpected blessing that wasn't part of our plan. Despite that, she went through lectures and the demands of the programme while carrying our baby. She wrote her final examinations while heavily pregnant, and just a week after returning home, she gave birth to our beautiful son. This is a mercy from Allah, and we are grateful. Today, she has achieved another remarkable milestone by becoming a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She has also begun her service year. In less than a year, she embraced marriage, motherhood, law school, and now national service, with remarkable grace, faith, and determination. Watching her navigate all of these roles has been nothing short of inspiring. I'm incredibly proud of her. If you come across this post, please join me in congratulating her. May Allah bless her career with wisdom, integrity, favour, and lasting impact. This is only the beginning, bi'idhnillah. ❤️
