Just a minor fact-check on taxes. There’s no high earning South African who pays 45% of their total income in taxes. You would need to earn R10 BILLION in a year to pay 45% EFFECTIVE tax. Why? Because you pay 45% on the amount that is ABOVE R1.88 million. The players aren’t in that threshold and bracket even if Gayton gives them a bonus. Check out marginal tax rates, average tax rates and EFFECTIVE tax rates (which is what we must focus on).

Yes, hence we didn't say they will pay 45% but that's the maximum taxable. Ofcourse each individual athletes taxes are based on their own situations.

Your response doesn’t correlate with what you said in the video though. You said POTENTIALLY 45% OF THEIR TOTAL EARNINGS. My response was based on that statement and I am still contending that you can only pay POTENTIALLY 45% if you earn R10 BILLION in a year. There’s literally NOBODY in the history of South Africa who has ever paid up to 45% of their TOTAL earnings in taxes and there’s nobody who has ever earned R10 billion in a year in this country. Accept correction. It goes a long way ❤️🙏🏽

Is IRS collecting their cut from the players as reported?

SA has a double taxation treaty with America so players likely won't get taxed twice.
