My heart breaks seeing this... Never thought I'd witness residential streets in Baidoa turning into battlefields. Innocent families fleeing their homes, and total uncertainty. Please God, protect our people and bring peace back home. 💔🇸🇴 #Baidoa #Somalia

Turkish F-16 departed Mogadishu's Aden Adde International Airport on Monday, as heavy fighting continued in the southwestern city of Baidoa. The Turkish fighter jets are deployed in Somalia as part of Türkiye's support for the Somali government's fight against terrorism, particularly against Al-Shabaab. The clashes in Baidoa involve Somali federal forces, Al-Shabaab militants, and forces loyal to Laftagareen. Baidoa, the administrative capital of South West State, lies about 250 kilometers northwest of Mogadishu.

In Baidoa, Somalia, cuts are biting and the Strait of Hormuz closure is driving costs up fast. Partners like MSF International are forced to make even harder choices about who to help. We need to get more support to extraordinary humanitarians like Dr. Asma.
