How I wish every actor involved with drama adaptation have this kind of mindset and approach, be respectful towards the OG and its fans, try to understand the OG in order to bring the character alive through his acting. So it can be enjoyable for both OG fans & drama audience.

Béla Tarr on how the concept of time works in "Sátántangó" (1994): "Interviewer: Did you have any problems when you first wanted to make the film in the ‘80s? How did you start work on the film? Tarr: It was mostly a political problem. We couldn't start in the ‘80s because of censorship from the communist government at the time, but by the early ‘90s it became possible to do it and it took four years to do, from 1990 to 1994. You have to understand. This man [Lázsló] was living in the Hungarian lowlands, and he saw a lot of things in the reality of how people were living, and of course he transformed it and created this beautiful novel. I understood when I started working on this project that I cannot do any kind of adaptation. I had to go back to the Hungarian lowlands, like him. I had to see how life is going on out there, and I had to find the film language, I had to figure out how I can get the same stuff that he did in the novel. By the end, I spent two years in the Hungarian lowlands filming, I can tell you I know all the houses, I know all f***ing roads, I know everything in this part of the country. By the end of my time there I could find the way to film and afterwards we could use the dramaturgical structure of the novel, and of course we did not have a script, we had only the novel and my vision. That's all we had. Interviewer: What about the sense of time that you found in that place? Tarr: Hey man, if you are sitting in the Hungarian lowlands, I'm sure it's the same in the desert in, let's say, Arizona, when you are out there: there is no time, no distance anymore, you can go hours, weeks, and you don't see anything. "I'm very grateful towards everyone. when I first saw the script, as an actress, there were definitely heart palpitations... I might be criticised very badly (because of how xu yan might be perceived as a scheming evil woman) but when I read the script, I was really very moved... my heart aches a lot for xu yan. at that moment, I felt a strong sense of empathy for that character. I also feel that there was an assimilation (of the character and myself) I was just thinking, that even if xu yan weren't the first female lead of the drama... if she were the second or third female lead, I would've still been willing to portray her role. she's able to convey the message that I hope to express. so irregardless of how "major" or "minor" her character is, I would've still wanted to bring this character, xu yan, to the audience. it was just something I hoped to do what I didn't expect was that everyone quite like this character and many people actually support her. so I've actually dispelled my (worries). it was just like cheng shaoshang (love like the galaxy) from the past... when I used to be the only one who really pitied her. but of course, it's been more than 2 years now and everyone is now able to stand for women. so I'm very grateful and happy that my character is gaining love beyond the screen" 🩷 #ZhaoLusi #LovesAmbition

If you have followed me for more than a minute you know how much respect I have for David Morrell and what an impact THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE ROSE had on me in my youth. I can still remember the feeling of anticipation leading up to watching the miniseries and how much I loved this adaptation. I’d go back and watch it for the first time in a heartbeat!

Prior to shooting of "The Story of Temple Drake" (1933), the Hays Office objected to any filmed adaptation of William Faulkner's novel 'Sanctuary', and later forbade any reference to the novel in advertising for the film. Joseph I. Breen, in charge of public relations for the Hays Office, admitted that he had not read the novel but was convinced that people would say that the filmmakers had adapted for the screen "the vilest book of the present years." It was Breen's opinion, however, that the picture was so tame in comparison to the novel that readers of the book who saw the picture would "charge us with fraud." Tom Clancy novels have always been ripe for Cinema adaptations. You may not know it, but Clancy is responsible for so many stories that have made it to the big screen. I wrote about The Hunt for Red October last week after the heart-breaking passing of Sam Neill. I think this is the best of film adaptation of any Clancy novel. This is an exceptional spy thriller.

An army shared their story of how Blue & Grey by Taehyung gave them strength to go on! 👤 The tattoo says ‘where's my angel?’, which is the first line of the song Blue and Grey by BTS. And the reason why I got it is because I was going through a mental breakdown. And then at 4 in the morning, I was listening to BTS, and this is like three weeks into me being a fan of BTS. Then I read the lyrics, and it was the first time I ever heard the song ever in life. And then I read the lyrics, and then this lyric really stuck out to me, so I put it on my chest, under my collarbone. So that's what my tattoo says, it's just a lyric from Blue and Grey because that song means a lot to me. So thank you, Mr. Kim Taehyung, for writing it, because you really saved my life with that one. So I've been good. ( Taehyung’s songs and lyrics have given so many of us comfort. Thank you so much.

JOONG LEGEND100 NEW FACE #100ListSocialClub2026 #จุงอาเชน #JoongArchen 🌞as for this year i recently wrapped filming for “Loveless Heroine” . it took around 40 to almost 50 shooting days. i feel that the whole team put so much effort into it. it’s a very big project so everyone can definitely look forward to it. it’s going to be fun 🌞: in this series i play Plew Kham. it’s a role many people have been waiting for because the character already has fans from the novel and is quite well-known. that made me feel quite pressured, wondering whether i could portray the character well enough. but i want everyone to believe that i truly put my heart into everything. please look forward to and support Plew Kham as well. everyone might see me shirtless throughout most of the series but i believe the number of my mom fans definitely won’t decrease—it’ll only increase … 🌞i eat 3 boiled eggs in the morning chicken at noon and eggs again at night : just because you have to take off your shirt? 🌞no i mean i have to take care of myself too. after wrapping filming i feel like i can finally fly. i’m really becoming jub chicken now. anyway please look forward to it and support us …. 🌞i feel that the hardest thing about taking on a period drama like this is actually doing my homework on the script and dialogue. cause as an actor, there are some things we can’t just improvise based on our own feelings. since it uses an ancient form of language i have to really study and absorb the script a lot. that part is quite difficult. it’s the dialogue. i feel like it really is old language. words and phrases like feel quite distant from my everyday life

Samuel L. Jackson explains how he landed the role of Jules in Pulp Fiction, and what it was like seeing the film for the first time on the big screen: “Pulp Fiction and I came together in a very strange kind of way. I remember auditioning for Quentin for Reservoir Dogs in New York (for the role of of Detective Jim Holdaway, Mr. Orange’s police contact). And apparently I didn't get that role. But I was at Sundance the year that he screened it for the first time. I was sitting there and I watched that movie - I was awed by it. I mean, there were people running up the aisles when Michael Madsen was cutting the cop's ear off. People were going, "Oh my God, this is horrible!" All these “auteurs” were running out of the theatre. I was like, "This is good. This is happening. This is different." So after the film, I walked up to Quentin and said, "This film's amazing, man. It's great." And he looked at me and said, "Hey! How'd you like the guy who got your part?" And I was amazed that he even remembered who I was - but he remembered me. A year or so later, I got a phone call saying Quentin Tarantino wants to have dinner with you, because he'd seen Jungle Fever and he liked that Gator character. When we had dinner, we were sitting there talking. We started talking about Hong Kong films and cartoons and foreign movies and obscure things that we watched, horror movies. We found out we liked the same kind of stuff. And he told me he was writing this thing, and he was writing this part with me in mind. He was going to send it to me. I went off to do another film. I was in the backwoods of Virginia somewhere doing a film, and the script came. A little plain brown wrapper from Jersey Films. And Jersey's got these gangster images on the logo. And it said, "If you show this script to anybody, two guys named Ernie and Luigi will come and break both of your legs." Whatever. I went, "Yeah, right." So I sat down and read it. Boom. I read this thing. It's like, "Oh my God. This is awesome." And then I said to myself, "Nobody writes a script this good. There's no way that this script is as good as I thought it was." I closed it. I opened it again. I read it immediately. Okay. This is great - If whoever produces this film lets him shoot exactly what I just read, if they stay away from it, they don't try to edit any of this stuff out - this is going to be a great film. It's going to be kind of audience-specific, because I like that kind of stuff. I have friends that I knew would like it. It was a generational kind of film. Samuel L. Jackson explains how he landed the role of Jules in Pulp Fiction, and what it was like seeing the film for the first time on the big screen: “Pulp Fiction and I came together in a very strange kind of way. I remember auditioning for Quentin for Reservoir Dogs in New York (for the role of of Detective Jim Holdaway, Mr. Orange’s police contact). And apparently I didn't get that role. But I was at Sundance the year that he screened it for the first time. I was sitting there and I watched that movie - I was awed by it. I mean, there were people running up the aisles when Michael Madsen was cutting the cop's ear off. People were going, "Oh my God, this is horrible!" All these “auteurs” were running out of the theatre. I was like, "This is good. This is happening. This is different." So after the film, I walked up to Quentin and said, "This film's amazing, man. It's great." And he looked at me and said, "Hey! How'd you like the guy who got your part?" And I was amazed that he even remembered who I was - but he remembered me. A year or so later, I got a phone call saying Quentin Tarantino wants to have dinner with you, because he'd seen Jungle Fever and he liked that Gator character. When we had dinner, we were sitting there talking. We started talking about Hong Kong films and cartoons and foreign movies and obscure things that we watched, horror movies. We found out we liked the same kind of stuff. And he told me he was writing this thing, and he was writing this part with me in mind. He was going to send it to me. I went off to do another film. I was in the backwoods of Virginia somewhere doing a film, and the script came. A little plain brown wrapper from Jersey Films. And Jersey's got these gangster images on the logo. And it said, "If you show this script to anybody, two guys named Ernie and Luigi will come and break both of your legs." Whatever. I went, "Yeah, right." So I sat down and read it. Boom. I read this thing. It's like, "Oh my God. This is awesome." And then I said to myself, "Nobody writes a script this good. There's no way that this script is as good as I thought it was." I closed it. I opened it again. I read it immediately. Okay. This is great - If whoever produces this film lets him shoot exactly what I just read, if they stay away from it, they don't try to edit any of this stuff out - this is going to be a great film. It's going to be kind of audience-specific, because I like that kind of stuff. I have friends that I knew would like it. It was a generational kind of film.
