A PH test of the water in Teheran also shows that the water has become acidic- resulting from the oil and ashes leaking into the fresh water supply of the city. The ice on it was blown up to protect people and their homes from floods. In spring, ice can accumulate in narrow places in the river, creating blockages - water cannot flow freely, the level rises, and flooding begins. Blasting helps break up the ice so that it moves downstream faster and does not interfere with the water.
