It's baffling to me seeing so many people saying that the 2D and 3D Metroid are two separate things. Fucking hell imagine saying that for Mario or Zelda. Both still have the core of their series but in different dimensions. Prime 4 had none of the core of Metroid.

mercury steam understood the core of metroid and the essence of samus as a character SO MUCH better than retro and bandai namco did with prime 4. i hope retro gets full creative control of the next entry and i need more games from mercury steam

And Prime has never been more back. We have a fun and gorgeous game with very enjoyable music and it's got people talking about Metroid even more again.

Not the Prime series, I loved Dread but fuck, in 2021 I played it all the way through wishing I was playing Metroid Prime 4 instead. Awesome game either way, one of the best designed Metroidvanias.
