The reality is now unmistakably clear to them: their young white friends—the ones they’ve grown up with and shared lives with—will be allowed to get away with things they never could. Not only that, but they’ll also be permitted to reach the highest office in the world, even with a criminal past. Meanwhile, for a young Black child, simply playing outside with a toy gun could be fatal. This tells Black children that the rules are different for them. For some, extreme behavior is not only excused but rewarded with unimaginable opportunities. But for you, just existing comes with risks.

I was shocked to learn he is 40, married with a couple kids. I thought he was younger, like early 30's.
