Yeah it's pretty bad but the are saying here (I'm in Thailand at the moment) that they think the water will subside by Tuesday. Fingers crossed. I'm in Hat Yai at the moment and they were under water last year.

Floods are pretty common in Bangkok but not that much and not everywhere. So, your point stands.

The flooding is happening now. The bigger climate question is whether events this extreme are becoming more frequent and intense.

We have never seen floods like that in tropical areas ever before, something bad is going on. Like 2 months ago it was in the 80’s, now it’s like in the low 40-50’s overnite, I think we are doomed.

Spare us the climate alarmist nonsense, these floods are quite frequent and have been occurring regularly for decades , you’re in a cult.

330mm in a single event. We keep building drainage for yesterday's climate and acting surprised when it fails. Extreme rainfall of this scale is rarely just about the rain, it's about how little capacity cities leave for water.

I'm not denying climate change, but Bangkok floods frequently and much of that is to do with poor planning, poorly maintained drains, and a city of 9 million people that is 1m below sea level on the largest floodplain in Thailand. It's rained a lot lately, but it's not unusual.

This is exactly the kind of extreme rainfall the monsoon could bring. It has happened to Bangkok several times before, like in 1942. It has exactly zero to do with climate change!
