At the inauguration ceremony of the German tank brigade "Lithuania" in Vilnius, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Defense Minister Boris Pistorius declared that this is a direct measure in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The brigade is to achieve full combat readiness by 2027.
