For decades, Quincy Jones was music. From producing Thriller, to composing the score for The Color Purple, to working with Frank Sinatra to Ray Charles, it seemed like every big record – and every big film – had Quincy’s name on it. His music appealed to listeners of every race and every age. And by building a career that took him from the streets of Chicago to the heights of Hollywood, Quincy paved the way for generations of Black executives to leave their mark on the entertainment business. Michelle and I send our thoughts to Quincy’s friends, family, and everyone who has lived their lives to his songs.

@emmdm123 @BarackObama The word legend are freely used these days but when attributed to Quincy it doesn’t do him justice. He is one of a kind. RIP Quincy May You Star never dim. Let it continue to shine through those you left behind who have been touched by your greatness.

@BarackObama A legend indeed.

@BarackObama He was an amazing person ❤️ ♥️ he is an icon. He did so much and knew talent when he saw it. RIP God's speed.

@BarackObama Thriller is probably his best project but my favorite song is the Sanford and Sons theme. "Street beater!" REALLY lays down the funk if you listen longer

@BarackObama R.I.P.🙏

@BarackObama Besides all that talent, he was always such a damned good looking man. Thank you for everything, Q.💙

@BarackObama my absolute favourite - and not only around this time of year- is his 'Messiah' - apart from the final chorus this trakc always gives me goosebumps....
