Police had claimed Shoaib tried to snatch a sub-inspector’s pistol while being taken for medical examination, after which he was shot in the leg. However, the video shows several people beating a man on the terrace of a two-storey house before bringing him downstairs, where he is assaulted in front of police. The man said to be is Shoaib, who appears unable to walk and does not resist as police carry him away. The houses of an RSS karyawah and a VHP leader are located opposite his residence. They have alleged Shoaib vandalised their homes and looted jewellery and Rs 5 lakh cash.
