At approximately 6:25 PM on Sunday, September 14th, the San Francisco Police Department responded to Leavenworth Street between Golden Gate and Turk in the Tenderloin for the report of a man who was shot and killed in the street. San Francisco Fire Department Public Information Officer Lt. Mario Elias confirmed that a victim was transported to SFGH Code 3 in regards to this incident. A person of interest was seen running down Market Street ditching his hoodie which has been recovered by SFPD and placed into evidence. According to scanner audio obtained, a suspect that matched the description of the shooter was detained by BART PD at the West Oakland BART Station and transported to Highland Hospital. A firearm was also recovered by BART PD at the station. Also according to scanner audio, the Emergency Department at SFGH was placed on lockdown at around 6:55 PM, however we were not able to get this information confirmed by City Officials.
