I thought that a short video lecture of what feature design is and a real case study of applying it in Ghostty would be helpful. Feature design is the planning step behind how you're going to solve one or more user problems with a product feature: what that feature looks like, how it feels, and not just how its going to tactically solve these specific problems, but how that solution is going to interface with the edges of other features that currently exist or are planned to exist in the future.

NO BUT HIS IDEA SO BRILLIANT? 👑: i already talked about it and gave hints to yeodoongies, right? so, it was almost at the final completion stage, but then the price came out. and it ended up being a bit higher than i expected. since i really wanted this item to be practical and actually useful for yeodoongies, i designed it with that in mind—and because of those extra details, the unit cost ended up a bit higher than i first thought 👑: so i thought, “wouldn’t this be a bit too much of a burden for yeodoongies?” that’s why i just decided to scrap it and changed to something else instead 💬: then just give me the one you scrapped 👑: ㅎㅎㅎ ah, that one was actually—well, i guess i can just say it now anyway. actually, i was thinking of a keyboard. the idea for that keyboard was something like i wanted to put hehetmon face on the keyboard—what should i call it? on the keycaps, like emojis. and then, you know those keyboards that don't make that loud clicking sound? not like mechanical keyboards, but ones that sound like asmr... ah, silent! but even though it's silent, it has that, you know—that “sagak-sagak” sound when you press the keys. yeah, you’re right! like “tuduk-tuduk” sound! i had that kind of keyboard in mind and tried to make it happen. but the unit cost ended up being higher than i expected. and i thought, this is a bit too much— i know our yeodoongies would want to have it no matter what, but if the price is this high, it’ll be such a burden on yeodoongies. so, i just made the call to scrap it and switched to something else

Has anyone noticed now how cars come with features but you can’t use them unless you pay them a subscription fee? I imagine the price of the car has the hardware for the feature already in it included in the price. They are charging people to use their own navigation, listen to music, heated seats and more, how is this legal?

This is probably my stopping point right here, as I've been working on this for the last four to five hours, and the costs of spending more time on this are outweighing the benefits. The issue I'm running into now is that it doesn't seem to be agentic enough to be able to do stuff on its own that is meaningful, such as build apps generatively and take my feedback. I do think that the technology has a lot of promise, so I will check back in a couple weeks or months to try and pick up where I left off.

This can be the superpower of the Neural Band that Meta is giving together with the Ray-Ban Meta Display glasses. The video shows an old prototype bracelet by CTRL+LABS, the startup acquired by Meta and whose technology was used to develop the Neural Band. At the beginning of the video, the guy makes an action (a keyboard key press) with his hands, then the bracelet can substitute the key pressure, and at the end of the video, the guy doesn't even have to do the action; it is just sufficient that he "thinks" about it. As long as the brain is sending an electric message to the fingers, the full action is not necessary anymore. Just an "intention" to move them is necessary. If the Neural Band is evolved to this stage, and the users are educated to this, potentially, we may not even need to perform air taps or writing gestures, but we could just think about doing them. This would reduce a lot of the fatigue of using XR devices and the weirdness of using them on the street. Then why isn't this feature available today? I guess that the reason is twofold. First of all, we have accuracy: the full gesture is easier to detect for the system. Many people (me included) are praising the accuracy of the Neural Band, and this is amazing, because an input mechanism should have a reliability close to 100%. Then we, as users, have never been trained to just "think" about actions: it would feel weird and hard to learn. I think we should undergo some training to learn how to do this "thinking" operation properly. I hope that something like this could come in the upcoming years... that would be the real game-changer paradigm if compared to the camera-based tracking.

We built an AI-steered homing/killer drone in just a few hours I thought it would be fun to build a drone that chases you around as a game. It just uses an AI object detection model to find people in the frame, and then the drone is programmed to fly towards this at full speed as soon as it detects someone. This literally took just a few hours to build, and made me realize how scary it is. You could easily strap a small amount of explosives on these and let 100's of them fly around. We check for bombs and guns but THERE ARE NO ANTI-DRONE SYSTEMS FOR BIG EVENTS & PUBLIC SPACES YET. I was also able to add face recognition to it, and only make it attack someone it knew who was, it could easily identify the person from 10 meters distance. My bet is that we will see some sort of terror attack using this type of tech within the next few years. You still need some technical knowledge to build this now, but it becomes easier and easier. We need to build anti-drone systems for civilian spaces asap. I'm usually an open-source absolutist, but I will not post for now, it's honestly super easy to code but no point enabling. Disclaimer: this was built on a tiny drone for a game and would not hurt anyone, just wanted to spread awareness around this .

Galaxy Z Fold8 (regular) has to be the most pointless phone I have seen. The fact that this FOLDABLE does not have Flex Mode, and an adjustable hinge design, is legitimately stupid. Z Flip8, a phone that is $700 CHEAPER than Fold8, DOES have Flex Mode! The whole point of a Foldable is to prop it up, and use it as a makeshift tripod. I feel bad for people who are upgrading from Fold4, 5, and 6, expecting to have this feature, but in reality, they pay more for less features.

I thought it might sound a little strange, like ahh, this might be a bit weird, but should we try it? and then with Shintaro magic, and it was good. So from there, I made the top line but the words that kept coming out of my mouth were 'tornado.' I kept saying it, though I don’t normally use the word tornado a lot, but for some reason I kept saying it, so I thought..ahh, I just need to go with this. It just feels so natural. So I kept trying some things, adding more, writing lyrics, and in the end we finished the demo in one day in about seven hours"

You can now save Editable Images to assets 🥳 Unfortunately the latest changes also involve a permission check that only allows you to turn your own assets into Editable Images ☹️. Lets hope an exception gets added for Plugin / Studio use so that people can apply adjustments to images that are publicly available Still a really good feature, I will be releasing this plugin as soon as Editable Images and the CreateAssetAsync function are out of beta!
