He's not the first to use these gun buy backs as profit. There was a dude on here a couple years ago showing his box of 3D printed guns. He said he made them for around $2 and sold them each for $200. He then said he was going back again and again.

"that would be the first person to make a profit" No ... People do this all the time. There are a lot of ways to make guns for $10 or less at the hardware store or with a 3d printer.
