This stuff has been in the handbook, website, and library for years. I’m glad they’re using someone that people will actually listen to.

I’m sure that’s true, but like you said, it doesn’t hurt to draw eyes to it.

This was the Boy Scouts until they went girl and gay.

FINALLY!! Leaving scouting was right, but we were handed very little to run with after. The 4 goal children and youth program was not a replacement for weekly activities. That was/is a home program.

I hope they bring a more organized platform to the young program. Would be great to have some semblance of scouting that uses gamified motivators and targeted skills. We need something a little less rigid than the scouting program, but a lot more codified than what is currently in place. Would also be great to see clear expectations on the amount of camping trips each year (gotta be at least 4 minimum).

Me watching this like a meth addict, jonesing for my Outdoor Boys fix, hoping he'll start making camping videos on the church's YouTube page. (My son is leaving on a mission in a couple of months, so this isn't really for me otherwise.)

We need an Outdoor Boys revival of non-gay Scouting groups.

Just last night I was wondering about him and the Church's panel they assembled. VERY happy to hear things are happening. Desperately needed.

Losing the BSA program has been so detrimental to our young men. At a recent camp out the leader said it turned into a “therapy” session with crying. Boys wanting to go home etc.

I'm so glad for this. I'm not saying leaving scouts was wrong, but replacing it with virtually nothing absolutely was.

Nah this sucks. You try to go camping and someone says: uh I’m not sure this has enough spiritual content in it. I think we need to make it into a BOM camp out instead. Going fishing is the purpose. It’s not just a side game to talk about church.

I'm so happy to have an increased emphasis on the things that really build strength, focusing on Jesus and serving others.

I’ve wanted to do ATVs at youth activities for awhile. I’ll take this as permission to do so.

Camping, hiking and fishing only ever made me miserable. I guess that prepared me for tracting.

Maybe a tangent, but going by the environment it looks like he's still in Alaska, so maybe they didn't require him to move to Utah for the new calling. That's neat!

Is the youth led failure finally coming to an end?

We need parents who stop giving their kids an opt-out of anything new, hard, out of comfort zone, makes them nervous, etc. Activities are not the problem.

Notice that it’s parents and leaders planning activities. This is important. The boys have been in charge here and every week has been basketball or frisbee golf. My son hasn’t wanted to go for a long time.

I’m excited to see what’s coming and happy that my 13yo will get to experience whatever they have planned. I wish there had been more for my now 19yo. It was hard to convince him there was much value in playing indoor soccer every week. They need to be working on goals together.
