It was a nice change having our vet call ME on the weekend for once - this time looking for someone to take on an orphaned foal whose dam sadly passed and her nurse mare had rejected her. There are a lot of people behind this little filly’s story. Her breeder made the hard call to give her a chance instead of euthanizing. All of us experience grief in our lives. It hides around each corner lurking for us in the most unexpected ways. I don’t mind feeling grief now because with it came love. A totally new type of love for a sick dog called Tina. I’ve been asked 500 times about Tina recently in person and am a master at changing the subject. “Oh a great girl and she had a wonderful end to her life. Where you from? I’ve just now sat on my sofa this evening, with Jumbo, home alone been able to look at old pictures and videos of Tina. I miss her so much. I miss her smell. Her wet nose. Her pretty face. Changing her bandanas. Her lovely fur. Riding on the bike with her. Everything. I’ve a fire in my belly now to do things to remember Tina by. She was put on this earth for a reason and although her time was short she made a huge impact on people all over the world. It’s over 33 Celsius / 92 Fahrenheit at the moment in Thailand which makes it unbearable for some of the street dogs with long hair. I spotted this old girl a few days ago in a different area to where I normally feed and I could see she was in agony. Just moving 10-20 yards was painful for her. As well as the overgrown fur it was mixed in with sharp pines and big matted clumps on her ears and right into her mouth. As well as that as we started to shave her we could see 100s of ticks and fleas. The amount of pain this girl must have been in is hard to imagine. It took about 2 hours to clean her up and hand pick ever tick out of her. She also got a full health check up and a lovely little bandana to send her on her way back to the safe place where she lives. We do lots of bigger way more impactful stuff than this with dogs at scale but sometimes just changing the world for one dog makes all the difference. It feels just as nice for us seeing the dog pain free as it does for the dog. I can only imagine how nice she feels tonight. Just this morning she was invisible to the world and miserable but tonight she’ll sleep well 🥰🙏

But this mentality that everything has to appeal to everyone, and then putting a woman to make decisions in a franchise that has always been very focused on a male audience, is a very, very big risk. If you’re going to put a woman in charge of products aimed at a male audience, she has to be very good at understanding what men want and have the professionalism to respect that. In the case of this video, we can clearly see that this was not what happened. This woman cared more about putting in “cute” and “nice” things that suit her own taste instead of focusing on pleasing the target audience. And look… I’ve been to a neko café in Japan. It’s wonderful. I love cats, I’m a proud cat lover, and I’m not ashamed of that. I’ve rescued more than 10 cats from the streets, I love these little creatures. But for the love of God… I don’t want to see cute little kittens in my shooter, which is supposed to be full of testosterone.

KATHARINE ROSS MINI BIO Katharine Juliet Ross was born January 29, 1940, in Hollywood, CA, to Katherine (née Hall) and Dudley Tying Ross. Her father, who had also worked as a reporter for the Associated Press, was a commander in the US Navy when she was born. His navy career shuttled the family around to Virginia, then Palo Alto, and finally to Walnut Creek, outside of San Francisco, where Ross grew up. Her father, who had also worked as a reporter for the Associated Press, was a commander in the US Navy when she was born. His navy career shuttled the family around to Virginia, then Palo Alto, and finally to Walnut Creek, outside of San Francisco, where Ross grew up. I help street dogs and the most common question I get is… Why don’t you take them home or find them a home? The answer is because we feed about 800 at the moment. Poppy here is a really good example because I adore here and I thought I’d explain what she gets… ✂️ It took me 2 months to build up trust but I caught her and got her sterilized meaning no more suffering with puppies. 🩸 While getting that operation the vet discovered major complications (Pyometra) which was about to kill her. Luckily that’s all fixed up and her stitches came out this week. 👷🏽‍♂️ I found her a place with some migrant workers. They don’t own her but they tolerate her. Nothing bad will happen her there and she is safe from other dogs who were attacking her. 🛢️ We delivered her very own house. The locals are happy for her to live in it. She now has shelter and a safe place. 🥘 Poppy gets two wholesome home cooked meals per day delivered. 💊 She has preventative medicines to stop fleas and ticks 💉 She is up to date with all her shots 🥰 Although short she gets a little bit of love each day in passing which she has grown to enjoy. So this is the best solutions for as many dogs as I can do. It’s not perfect but it improves their lives massively and gives them a chance and some basics. All that only costs about $100 max. 🏡 I am always working on forever homes and have 5 getting their paperwork down ready to fly (Rodney, Hope, Lottie etc) but 800 dogs out there need instant solutions which is what these are. Quick wins for the dogs. It’s not perfect but it’s nice to know that Poppy is at least alive thanks to her operation, not suffering thanks to simple medicines and has shelter and is out of immediate danger. ✅

When I was at the pizza shop, a mom came in with her 3 kids. She ordered a small cheese pizza for the kid’s dinner, without judging her, I saw she pulled up in an older sky blue Dodge Caravan, it was missing a hubcap and a little rusty. The kids were clearly excited about the pizza, that tells me they didn’t get it often. I knew what I had to do. I invited the kids into the kitchen , I gave them each a medium pizza dough in a pan and told them to make their pie pizza however they wanted and that would show them how. I ladled some sauce on each of their pizza crusts and then told them to put some cheese on it, and they were having a blast, made a nice mess too but it’s cool I didn’t really care. Then I had them top their pizzas. The youngest one put four pepperonis on the whole pizza in which I intervened and told him he should space it out and put more so that he could have pepperoni in each bite. I also showed them how to make breadsticks and cinnamon sticks. The mom was so happy that her kids had a blast and I knew I did the right thing. I didn’t put her on blast I made it into a learning day for the kids and fed them well. Like this lady I grew up poor too, I know what it’s like to be hungry, and a hungry child is a sad sight to see for me, it reminded me of my own experience too much. So I always say to myself that if I can fix that I will. Am I going to solve world hunger? No, but if I can make a difference in somebody’s life I will. I’m sure you would too. This woman clearly has her heart in the right place by feeding the kids in the neighborhood, she is truly leading by example.

This poor and incredibly brave mother and the rest of Grace Lynch's family (as well as the 16 year old child herself) have paid for the government's failure to adequately tackle this issue of scramblers and scooters. Where's the enforcement? Where's the seizure of these lethally used menances? The government is too busy implementing spyware legislation to tackle that, which is just as terrifying as violent crime on our streets and every bit as much of a threat. When I was very close to my due date in late summer 2016, I had a very near miss with a scrambler on a footpath. I stepped up on the path to go onto a shop in Tallaght when one of these lads on a scrambler came careering around the blind corner, and I had to jump out of the way. No cares given by him. In fact, if you challenge any of these young lads, you get serious abuse or worse. I made the mistake of doing so a couple of years back while my daughter was in the car (I simply beeped). For that, they circled us like sharks for several mins, and my daughter was screaming crying. Scooters are also a dangerous scourge. A few weeks ago I was doing 60km in my car when a scooter (not even a scrambler) passed me out with a young lad who of course didn't have a helmet (God forbid) and a few days ago three balaclava wearing all in black lads tore through a pedestrian crossing in the dark as I was crossing. No lights, etc. I didn't see them until they whooshed past the cars that had patiently stopped for me. I am actually scared to take my child anywhere local where I live in D 15, and unfortunately, I realise now that this is not paranoia. I'm sure other parents feel and felt the same before this latest death. My daughter's tiny little wisp of a 9 year old body wouldn't be able to withstand one of these on impact.
