SHE EXPOSED A RAPE LIST IN THE ROYAL NAVY Former Lieutenant Sophie Brook was one of the first women to serve on UK submarines after the ban was lifted in 2011. She could have become the first female submarine captain. Instead, she became a whistleblower. Brook told the Daily Mail she was called a "c***", punched and hit by male colleagues, and informed she was on a "rape list", a list of women ranked in the order they should be raped in a catastrophic event. In 2022 she disclosed dozens of allegations from multiple female sailors, ranging from petty hazing to unwanted sexual contact and at least one instance of rape. She said she had come forward to shine a light on a culture that, for too long, had been permitted to thrive within some of the most elite branches of the armed forces. The Royal Navy launched an investigation. It took two years. The internal investigation confirmed 71 cases of misconduct between 2014 and 2020, leading to dismissals, demotions and reprimands. First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Ben Key apologised and accepted all 37 recommendations of the investigation in full. He met Brook personally and called her courage commendable. Brook said she was still concerned about the Navy's commitment to delivering meaningful change. Seventy-one confirmed cases. Decades of abuse. One woman willing to say it out loud. NEW: Group of Marines get into a fight with a group of men outside the Voodoo Room nightclub in Austin, Texas. Don't mess with the Marines. The incident started when an angry woman snagged a phone and threw it into the street. (She was later smacked on accident by one of the men she was with). One of the black men then swung at a Marine and missed which then escalated the fight. The Marines knocked down one of the men after he landed three punches on a Marine. Following days of political turmoil and speculation - Sir Chris Wormald is standing down as the head of the Civil Service - after just over a year in the post. Three top civil servants will share the job for now - including Dame Antonia Romeo who is widely tipped to take over. However last night in an interview on Channel 4 News Lord Simon McDonald said "the due diligence needs to be thorough" in terms of vetting Dame Romeo for the post. The Cabinet Office has said "All the allegations were dismissed on the basis there was no case to answer", but tonight this programme can reveal that three sources with knowledge of the investigation have told us that the allegations against Antonia Romeo were not dismissed by the Foreign Office.

The UN’s rape denialist special rapporteur on violence against women and girls Reem Alsalem shows her hypocrisy here. She refuses to believe Israeli claims despite the report of her UN colleague Pramilla Patten. She claims the idea of women being raped on that day was propaganda for ‘genocide’. And she says she won’t believe it until a rape victim gives her testimony personally (even though we know the majority were killed after being raped, apart from some of the hostages who have given testimony on television). But at the same time (second video 👇🏼) she shows off about being one of the first to bring up the case of IDF rapes of Palestinian women even though, once again she has no personal evidence. The way she talks about these two cases is illuminating. Rape of any women and girls (or men) is a terrible crime and should always be called out and if you are working for the UN you are meant to be neutral on this.

25 YEARS AGO TODAY, the very first series of Celebrity Big Brother launched 👁️🔴 The series lasted just 8 days, and was supposed to be a one-off Comic Relief special, but it ended up going on to have a monumental impact on reality TV. There have now been 24 series of CBB, and it is the only British TV show in history to air on every main channel: BBC One, Channel 4, Channel 5, and now ITV. It returns for a 25th series next year, on ITV. The first series was won by comedian Jack Dee, but the most memorable moment however, was when Vanessa Feltz had a meltdown on the dining table. She had only been locked away for.. 3 days. While series 1 was the most watched ever, with an average of 5.2 million viewers, it went on to have a bigger global impact over the years. Series 4 had the first ever ‘civilian’ contestant take part, Chantelle, who went on to win the show. Series 5 had the infamous race-row, which made global news and had an impact on political relations between the UK and India. Series 11 was won by Rylan, who went on to host the side show for 5 years, and he then became a regular TV presenter on Strictly and Eurovision. Series 13 was extended mid-series and went on to reach 3.7 million viewers. Series 17 became viral with Tiffany Pollard vs. Gemma Collins, which later went on to spawn a Zara Larsson song a decade later. Also… RIP David. Series 22 saw it cancelled for the 3rd time, but not without making international news once again, thanks to Roxanne Pallet. Series 23 relaunched on ITV, and featured Ex-Factor judges Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne.
