Excellent announcement today by Mark Carney that Canada will achieve 2% of GDP NATO target this year. This will be additional $20B a year or so plus there is still the consideration of $60B spending for the Golden Dome by Donald Trump. NATO's Secretary is now calling for 5% of GDP military spending. This is a huge industry and economic stimulator especially if the money can stay in Canada and develop supply capabilities to others. This also means we have to print over $100B in new spending or so over the next 4 years.

No Mark, you are borrowing money, that will cost Canadian taxpayers interest and will need to be paid back, on programs that you hope will generate ROI. In finance, it's called a leverage. He is trying to call this a leverage except that the government won't own any assets with this but hopes to generate additional economic spending that will cover the cost of this spending and the borrowing that will need to be paid back.
