@71Season Yeah, and much better it was too, none of this dropping down to another competition, if you lost you were out no such thing as too many games back then and fifa/uefa weren't bloody greedy either ⚽⚽⚽⚽

@SportMonkey Hector, Lee, and George upfront and Todd & Macfarland at the back. What a side

Extraordinary tie - Derby won 4-1 but somehow then lost away 5-1.

The European Cup was as it stood the best European cup competition The so called Champions League is rubbish, just a money laundering second rate competition

Now it's called the Champions League, and you don't have to be champions to compete. In fact, the 2019 final was contested by two teams who collectively hadn't won their league for 88 years.

European competitions so much more preferable back then.

Mad to think those quality of teams and players played on a pitch that is now a housing estate just outdone the city centre

Those were great nights at the Baseball Ground. Unfortunately Franny Lee was suspended for the return leg. The referee was the linesman in the 1966 World Cup final who said the Hurst shot off the cross bar went in.

@NedHallSport C. George - get in!! A sneaky one from David Nish and that Kevin Hector was a “clever” lad wasn’t he Ned 😏😊
