B.C. doesn't own a single firefighting aircraft. We're going to change that with a provincial waterbomber fleet that will be ready every fire season. #BCPoli

The most effective water bombers in the world, the CL-415 and DHC-515 are made in Canada and cost $40-50 million. Carney has committed $200 billion to climate action. That's the equivalent of 4,000 water bombers. Think about that.

Bc should contract out from fire protection companies. Keep gov out of business. You should know this already.

BC NDP: We saved you by knocking on your door telling you to evacuate BC Conservatives: We saved you by preventing the fire from reaching your home Seems like a no brainer to me on who gets my vote #bcpoli

A BC. Company provides aircraft for fire fighting around the world. Start by fixing that relationship.

You have no platform.. You are temporary.. You say no new tax but somehow will have millions for a fleet of waterbombers.. This makes no sense.. How are you paying for it

British Columbia does not directly own a dedicated fleet of large water bombers; instead, the BC Wildfire Service relies on a contracted and mixed aviation fleet of around 27 to nearly 40 fixed-wing aircraft (including land-based airtankers and smaller water-skimmers.

When you formed government, BC didn't even budget to fight forest fires, the NDP recognized what was coming and started budgeting for it.

About time.... BC is absolutely terrible at forest management.

@Lyfeblood1 Excellent announcement Lorne. I’ve been calling for a dedicated fast-response water bomber fleet for years. This is great news and when you’re elected, make sure this promise comes to fruition.

Unacceptable that BC does not own one firefighting aircraft.

@BenMulroney How about spending a small % of that $ on a couple of fire boats for Okanagan Lake? They would be the best answer to fighting lakefront fires and could easily double as floating pump stations supplying water to fire trucks on the front lines. Seems like a total no brainer

B.C. already has a firefighting aircraft fleet ready every fire season. The province contracts it instead of owning it. Pretending we don’t have a fleet because the government doesn’t own the planes is more than a little misleading.

Why does Canada not have a fleet of 100 that can be dispatched anywhere in Canada ?

Lorne you need to pursue and implement the immigration reforms that premier smith has put on the ballot in Alberta - to restrict public services & programs to citizens only, and to apply a heavy on fee on temporary residents

Climate change is expensive eh… taxpayers will pay for all the fire fighting and drought and rebuilding but the rich take their profits and hide it offshore… conservatives are anti science and anti workers

Wait we don't?!? That's insane! I thought we borrowed a lot but didn't realize we didn't even have one. Bloody hell NDP, lets add that to yet another thing they should've spent money on instead of consultants and bureaucracy.

The NDP doesn't even have scraps on their table to fight over. Keep it simple and focus on 1. Cost of living. 2. Economy and Jobs. 3. Taxes 4. Wasteful government spending.
