I would NEVER be involved with owning properties to rent. Never. You can tell who lived there by the chirping fire detector… absolutely unacceptable behavior. The damage to that property is at least $2000 if they’re lucky, $4000 if they go all in on repairs.

@Kobie3408 I’m keeping the deposit for the smoke detector alone. I just don’t get it. I have 9 smoke detectors in my home. I start hearing beeps and I drop everything, hunt down the culprit like a tweaking meth addict, and swap that battery out immediately. It drives me bonkers.

I would fix everything then take that cost and minus it from their deposit. Then start a small claim suit for the difference. They wont give a shxt enough to show up for court so theyll rule in my favor then ill just have the judgement against them until they die. Im never gonna get my money back. Lesson learned.

I have my place on AirBnB. I am careful on who I approve. But let me tell you, I also dislike doing it because you just never know.

Replacing the kitchen counter alone exceeds the deposit. Keep the deposit and sue them for additional repairs.

He is questioning whether or not they get the DEPOSIT BACK? I would sue them for damages. By hearing the CEILING BIRDS CHIRPIN' 🐦, we all know damn well who he was renting to. I would repair all the damages, do all the painting, then send them the bill for the difference between what their deposit covers. If they refuse, sue them. I would NEVER rent to the bonnet people.

Paint & outlets, welcome to being a land lord. That’s fine, annoying but fine. Now the excessive holes especially in the doors, is already grounds to keep the deposit. Stealing the medicine cabinet even more so. Burning the counter tops, grounds for small claims court.

Are you serious? They sold the bathroom cabinet? That alone is enough not to give back the damage deposit. They built a wall in the house , this is crazy talk, of course they should not get any damage back

Landlord here, it’s really not that bad. Sure we want a perfect property back but this is far from trashed and easily salvaged. A week or two downtime. And the cost is just part of the rental business, you build it in.

Holy crap! 😳 I rented a place for 14yrs and never left it as a pigsty! My landlord was the best! Never raised our rent in all that time and if any issues, he dealt with it asap. These pigs raised their kids as they live. 🤨 KEEP the deposit!
