Couldn't agree more. In the coming years we are probably going to see the development of human sub-types defined by their innate skills and IQ, multiplied by AI use or abuse. What type of human will that be who has lost the ability to think but can solve any problem with AI?

Respectfully, Tim, I only half agree. "Be very careful what you outsource to AI." Careful, yes. Afraid, no. You use AI for version control but not to write your book, because if AI writes it, you're done. I hear the logic. I also hear the moat talking. You have an author reputation to protect. Your name sells the book before page one, so your process has to certify your name: I lived it, I wrote it, no shortcuts. I'm a pseudonymous author with no reputation to protect. No moat. No brand carrying my work in the door. So I ride the opposite way: the Centaur method, announced, not hidden. My byline literally says ~C4Chaos / Fluffy. The AI drafts, fact-checks, synthesizes and red-teams. Other AIs attack the draft. I bring the thesis, the taste, the veto and the stakes, and I sign for the errors. We don't hide the Centaur authorship. We embrace it, and we file the receipts. You certify authorship by what you refused to use. I certify it by showing exactly what I used, and what survived it. Outsourcing doesn't kill the function. It moves it up a level, from typing sentences to judging claims. The function I refuse to outsource isn't writing. It's deciding what's true enough, sharp enough and mine enough to publish. You kept the stakes and called the typing the stakes. You outsource the mechanical and guard the prose to protect your reputation. I outsource the mechanical and the prose, and guard only the judgment, because judgment is the only reputation I have.

You're right. But, do you think humans will retain the discipline to do the work manually when AI can be summoned whenever they like? I doubt that most people will be able to resist.

Tim is right, You must find that one thing you do and control 100% with limited #AI help

Keep the thinking. Delegate the typing.

I can tell it’s making my thinking muscle weaker. Very obvious to me that whatever we make easier for us atrophy’s that part.

Next future business is cognitive gym. Just like office work grew a belly and love handles, AI will do to your cognitive ability.

Exactly. I will not use a AI agent to automate important tasks.

I’m excited to see how this developes. It is comparable to do Maths manually or use a calculator. Or translations..

I think retaining a function is a silly reason to not use AI. Then why use AI for anything? If much of the task can be done by a machine to your standard then what exactly are you accomplishing by doing everything manually?

If you let it write your dating scripts, you’re outsourcing your charisma. Use it for logistics, not for your voice. I’ve lost the spark the moment I stopped thinking for myself.

Just not going to happen. AI will be used to write every book, person will just be there to shape the structure and opinion.

Well, Tim, unfortunately, our parents said the same thing, and half of them can't use phones, so be careful, mister. There will be new competencies to master, and I don't think becoming a dinosaur is the answer. There's no world where I'm not going to write with voice dictation. Doesn't mean I'd allow AI to do all the work.

Been wanting to write a book for the last 25 years. AI is allowing me to put “words to paper” in a way I never imagined. I made a strict prompt for it not to create anything and to strictly go off dictation. It’s been amazing. I’m 120,000 words in and may make it a series

Rule I'd use: outsource the first draft, never the judgment. AI can write the memo. A person still has to own the call.

same observations here - I am finishing my first book, and I use AI for everything except actual writing :)
