Syerleena Abdul Rashid should resign from the parliament select committee on women, children and community development for her disgusting remarks blaming rape victims, including underaged girls who cannot consent to sex. An MP who doesn’t understand statutory rape doesn’t belong to a parliament committee on women and children. As it is, rape victims have such a hard time in the criminal justice system. Now, an MP is alleging that rape victims make false accusations and “destroy men’s lives” because they got their hearts broken. Does the victim’s lifelong trauma not matter? This is one of the most appalling things I’ve seen coming from a politician. And it’s a woman MP, from DAP, at that.
