Very casually he put holy books in the category of fiction. Excellent take.

Any scientific books written 1000 years ago are still relevant and have same results today or thereafter but any holy book written 100 years back are not relevant today because they are just imagination thought, not practically proved. Great

"The Afterlife" by @rickygervais is a masterpiece. His funny, quirky remarks on science, religion, afterlife and human relationships in general, are soo good 🙌

One thing this line of argument misses is the nature of scientific progress which happens through error correction. All scientific truths are provisional – in the sense, they are truths today (not eternal certainties) that are open to correction.

This is not entirely true. Science carries with it the burden of hypotheses and people keep trying stuff that fails badly and adversely affects people sometimes in worse ways than Homeopathy or Ayurveda (not defending either). Did the vaccine work? tons of counter examples.

Here the assumption is 1000 yrs ago everything around us was exactly the sam and it will remain same in future too. Look at the earth and its atmosphere 1000 years ago and now. Is it same? Results of scientific experiments are based on various conditions at that moment.
