Jack is 20 years old with no signs of slowing down. He now has a problematic ankle that we are sparing no expense on keeping him comfortable on. Not for our use but because he does not handle life at the farm well. He is happiest with a purpose and just being around the barn. I have had him in my life since he was a yearling and owned him since he was 3. It is not a thought I want to have that he is getting up there in age.

Pupdate: Boogie needs your best wishes and prayers. He is no longer eating, and has no appetite. It has been a few days since he took a bite of food. He is also throwing up and can't hold his bladder. We are not sure how long until Jesus calls him home. Our hearts are very sad.

A lot of our rescues are urgent, but this sweet little boy was in a league of his own. We found him with a severe neck injury from a piece of string that had been digging into him, but he was so incredibly terrified of humans that he actually escaped down a hole to hide. It took 36 long hours and the help of a kind local boy to finally bring him to safety, but we were never going to leave him behind. Today, that terrible pain has finally been lifted. He is still very nervous, but he is starting to slowly open his heart to our team a little more each day. The bravest little survivor is finally in safe hands.

She had become very weak with old age, so before going home every day, he made sure to take food to her. $Trooper’s journey is an absolute miracle. We rescued him at just 7 months old after he had eaten ropes and coconut husks out of pure desperation on the streets. Things were incredibly dire. His small intestine had been twisted for about 10 days and had actually started to rot. The surgery to save him was brutal. The doctor found 150 ml of inflammatory fluid in his abdomen, and his spleen and pancreas were severely inflamed. They had to remove about 1.2 meters of his intestine, leaving him with only a tiny fraction of what a normal dog has. He was in critical care for a week, but those amazing vets saved his life! Fast forward almost a year: Trooper is a super healthy, incredibly happy boy. Because his intestine is now so short, he has some trouble with nutrient absorption and requires a special diet of easily digested food and supplements for the rest of his life. But honestly? None of that phases him. We took him to the beach today, and seeing the pure joy on his face makes every hard day worth it. Keep thriving, Trooper! 🏖️❤️$

"We do adoption events every month. Yesterday was our biggest one. Forty-two dogs found homes. It was a wonderful day. Winston did not find a home. He is eleven years old. He is large. He is silver-gray and his whole muzzle is white and his eyes are the color of a winter morning and he is the gentlest dog I have ever put on a leash. He sat in the same spot for six hours. He did not pace. He did not bark. He watched every dog around him get chosen and he wagged his tail for every family that walked past him without stopping. Every single one. For six hours. At 5pm when the last family had left and the last car had pulled out of the parking lot I turned around and Winston was sitting at the edge of the empty lot wagging his tail at the space where the people had been. I sat down on the asphalt beside him. I put my hand on his silver back. He leaned into me. I don't have a word for what I felt. I have worked in rescue for nine years. I have never sat on a parking lot asphalt at the end of a failed adoption event and felt so completely undone and so completely certain simultaneously. Undone because he deserves everything. Certain because he is going to be okay. Both at the same time. Both because of him. He wagged at the empty parking lot. That is who Winston is. That is who he has been every day of his eleven years.
