"Beds Are Burning" is a powerful protest anthem about returning land to Australia’s Indigenous peoples, especially the Pintupi. In 1986 Midnight Oil traveled through the Outback playing in remote Aboriginal communities and was deeply affected by the terrible living conditions and forced displacement they saw. In 2000, during the... show more

It is incredibly dishonest for leaders to fabricate falsehoods about the government-to-government oil deal. This distortion of facts serves as nothing but a diversionary tactic to mitigate the loss of business. As a trader in the oil industry, the termination of dubious practices from the previous regime has struck a nerve. The current outcry is a direct consequence of their inability to exploit the system any longer. They are using the country and its citizens as pawns in their quest to retain control over an oil industry that has now been liberated from their grasp.

BREAKING: "Ibos Are Indigenous to Oyo State" – Igbo Man Claims Ancestral Land in Southwest, Calls for United Fight Against Yorubas A video has emerged showing an Igbo man making a series of explosive claims about Igbo presence in Oyo State and the wider Southwest. According to him, there are Igbo communities indigenous to Oyo State, as well as ancient Igbo settlements scattered across the Southwest. He alleged that the Oyo State government has deliberately denied these so-called indigenous Igbo communities access to social amenities because they have refused to integrate with Yoruba culture. He also accused Yorubas of grabbing land from indigenous Igbos in Oyo, claiming that one Mr. Emeka is ready to return the lands to Igbos. The man then called on Igbos allegedly indigenous to Oyo and other Southwest states to unite and fight Yorubas.

Today's ruling by the Court of Appeal is deeply disappointing. This case remains about much more than one group. What’s important for all of us to understand is that proscription is one of the strongest powers the government has. Treating protest as terrorism leaves the door wide open for governments to suppress other protest movements in the future. We have long said that the banning of Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation is a grave misuse of counter-terrorism powers with serious consequences for human rights. It is a huge overreach to treat direct action protest as terrorism. Amnesty will continue to defend the freedoms that allow people to speak out and hold the powerful to account.

This is called Consecration of an altar. Have you witnessed this before? Tell me in the comment section. Altar consecration by a bishop is a solemn ritual that dedicates the altar to God, setting it apart as a sacred place for the Eucharistic sacrifice. During the ceremony, the bishop anoints the altar with **Oil of Chrism**, a mixture of olive oil and balsam. This oil is also used in Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders.

I had the privilege of speaking with a team of doctors I sent to a repatriation camp in South Africa, as well as a few Malawians staying there. My heart was deeply saddened by what I heard and saw. The living conditions are heartbreaking, and it was painful to learn about the daily struggles people are enduring 😢

The street is too hot in the past few weeks Courier services and motor riders are also gasping for air as they protest against indiscriminate arrests citing deception by the government. They make a strong case with pictures, videos and venn diagrams proving the specific promise the NDC government made to them during the campaing based on which they lined up to vote for them. Now they are singing patriotic songs saying, the NDC government cannot promise them freedom to operate during campaign and start arresting them indiscriminately after winning. Government shld intervene quickly to calm down tempers and bring serenity into the country, some of us want the peace to also go about our business.

In the New Zealand Parliament, Māori MP Hana Rawhiti took a historic step by tearing up a copy of the Indigenous Treaty Bill and performing the traditional haka dance. This protest highlighted the need to honor the 1840 Waitangi Treaty and amplified the voice of the Māori community. Hana, who is the youngest member of Parliament at 22, sent a strong message about the importance of participation in democracy and the rights of Indigenous communities. This incident serves as a lesson for countries like India, where efforts are being made to weaken the rights of Indigenous communities over water, forests, and land. Democracy can only be truly powerful when every community is given proper representation and participation, ensuring that their voices and rights are protected.

As soon as the police took Sonam Wangchuk from the CJP protest to the hospital, Rajdeep Sardesai immediately came out to push his propaganda. He is saying that in 2011, when Baba Ramdev launched his protest, Congress minister Pranab Mukherjee went to receive him, while the current government is completely silent and not responding to the CJP protest. But Rajdeep Sardesai will not tell you that during the same 2011 protest, it was the Congress government that ordered a midnight lathi charge on Baba Ramdev, forcing him to flee to save his life. Shameless Rajdeep Sardesai never misses a chance to push his propaganda.

She is Danish Ali. She is a leftist and a JNU student. She participated in the CJP protest and went on a 7-day hunger strike. But she couldn't stay away from Junaid's biryani, so she ended her hunger strike within just 7 days. After the CJP protest ended, she is now going to Bihar to question the government in support of students, even though there is no student protest happening there. Meanwhile, for the last 11 days, a massive student protest has been taking place in Jharkhand. But Danish Ali has neither gone there to join the students' protest nor supported it in any way. The CJP protest was against the BJP government, and Bihar also has a BJP government, so Danish Ali is opposing the government by supporting the protesters in both places. But in Jharkhand, where the Congress-backed opposition is in power, Danish Ali has neither spoken a single word in support of the students nor gone there to support their protest. This is the true face of leftists like Danish Ali. They only use students for their political interests and to oppose the BJP.

In the Maronite tradition, Job Wednesday is observed during Holy Week and is dedicated to the biblical figure of Job, known in Arabic as Ayoub. Job was a righteous man who lost his family, possessions, and health, yet remained faithful to God through his suffering. For this reason, Maronites see him as a symbol of patience, endurance, healing, and remaining rooted in faith no matter how difficult life becomes. On Job Wednesday, Maronite churches celebrate the Rite of the Lamp, during which oil is blessed and used to anoint the faithful, especially the sick. This practice is rooted in the Bible, particularly James 5:14: "Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the priests of the Church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord." The blessed oil is a sign of God's grace, healing, and presence.

How Indigenous tribes live in harmony with nature in the Amazon, where small communities are surrounded by vast stretches of dense rainforest and depend on the land and rivers for food, materials, medicine, and shelter. For generations, Indigenous peoples have developed an intimate understanding of the forest and its seasons, plants, animals, and waterways, allowing them to make use of its resources while maintaining a close relationship with the ecosystem. This small village, hidden within the immense Amazon rainforest, offers a glimpse into a way of life deeply connected to the natural world.

Bill O’Reilly says what’s happening in Minnesota has gone WAY past protest — it’s now a REBELLION against the federal government. The only two previous times Americans openly rebelled against federal authority were the Civil War and the Vietnam War. O’REILLY: “The problem with the Democrats is that the resistance to so over the top, it’s so blatant ideological to the left, that most Americans, even though they feel very sorry for Renee Good…they reject these people.” “So I wrote a column on Bill O’Reilly dot com called ‘Rebellion.’” “This is not a protest in Minnesota or Oregon or California. This is a rebellion.” VITTERT: “Right, fighting with ICE is different than protesting.” O’REILLY: “You can protest ICE all day long. Okay. But if you’re not going to obey federal law, as CLEARLY, Minnesota and Oregon are not…they’re not going to obey the law..that is a rebellion!” “Just as we saw in the south before the Civil War and during the Vietnam War.” “Those were the only two times that the American people, at least some of them, were in open rebellion against the federal government.”

UK police have arrested an 85 year old woman in Manchester for a peaceful protest after she held a sign reading "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine action" and refused to put it away. She was detained under section 13 of the Terrorism Act, with officers claiming she was supporting a proscribed group after the UK government designated Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation in July. The move has been widely described by rights groups and legal critics as a political proscription and a deeply controversial use of terrorism powers. Protest organisers said they were demonstrating against the UK Government’s complicity in Israel’s genocide and the political ban on Palestine Action. Critics say the proscription itself was largely driven by aggressive lobbying from Israeli networks determined to crush any protest action against arms companies enabling Israel’s genocide. They argue the designation had no legitimate security basis and reflects a wider state crackdown aimed at silencing opposition to Israel’s atrocities.

In 1992 the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Rigoberta Menchú Tum from Guatemala, in recognition of her work for social justice and ethno-cultural reconciliation based on respect for the rights of indigenous peoples. Like many other countries in South and Central America, Guatemala has experienced great tension between the descendants of European immigrants and the indigenous population. In the 1970s and 1980s, that tension came to a head in the large-scale repression of indigenous peoples. Menchu has come to play an increasingly prominent part as an advocate of indigenous rights. Rigoberta Menchú grew up in poverty, in a family which has undergone the most brutal suppression and persecution. In her social and political work, she has always borne in mind that the long-term objective of the struggle is peace. Today, Rigoberta Menchú stands out as a vivid symbol of peace and reconciliation across ethnic, cultural and social dividing lines, in her own country, on the American continent, and in the world. #NobelPeacePrize
