Been getting a “Network Error” a lot lately in our Teslas. Not sure if it’s a phone or car issue, but if you’re getting it too, here’s a solution. If you’ve got a better one please let me know! 👇

I can't wait for Starlink to our Teslas using the newly aquired 50 MHz of S-band spectrum for direct-to-cell! 🛰️

Absolutely. 💯

Had a flight from hell and needed to drive 90 minutes home from airport after an exhausting 20 hour day. I pushed the mic button and said, “take me home”. It was raining at night, car drove me home safely. Can’t imagine not having my Cyberbeast FSD

That is arguably the best thing about owning a Tesla.

I think it’s an AT&T issue. Mine has been doing a little in my Model Y

I have 4 StarLink routers in my house & one is in the garage. My 25 M3P randomly doesn’t connect to WIFI and is connected to the Premium connectivity. I wish they would show us the connectivity on our App.

Last month I brought mine in for the same issue. They replaced the “FUSED,TST&CONFIGRATION CONNECTIVITY CARD(1521914-S2-C)” and now it works like a charm. It was covered under my warranty

Wild. Thanks.

No problem happy to help 🤙🏻

wow, this video is wild...hahaha, shutting down the computer while the car is driving itself. lol. good stuff. In any case, this is actually a good tip! I'll do this when i'm in park, though. Also, i think she could've said "morning a couple more times.

Ours always )both cars) has problems in certain locations (near our house ), despite having no issues with Phone LTE connectivity at hose points. IMO it is to do with their LTE supplier (probably use a different one to us). Seems like they change supplier every now and again as it used to be fine (same car).

I’m not sure if this is just me, but I’m a little uneasy about resetting the vehicle while it’s in FSD mode...

Happening to me too. Started on Tuesday in my Model Y Juniper.

I had no idea FSD still functioned during a soft-reboot. Thanks for the tip!

I’ve seen it recently, suspect it’s a bug introduced with one of the recent updates and expect it to be fixed in a subsequent update. By the way Tesla has two mainstream types of reboots and even more tucked away in service mode. The one shown can safely be done when driving but if possible, I would recommend doing any reset when parked when practical for safety. Here’s grok explaining them: 🧵 Rebooting just the display (also known as the touchscreen or infotainment system) in a Tesla restarts only the central screen and its related software. This addresses issues like a frozen interface, laggy apps, or audio glitches without impacting the vehicle's driving controls, safety systems, or Full Self-Driving (FSD)/Autopilot hardware. It's safe to do while driving because the car remains fully operational—the wheels, brakes, acceleration, steering, and features like turn signals continue working normally. However, during the reboot (typically 30 seconds to 2-3 minutes), the screen goes black, temporarily hiding visual elements like the speedometer, navigation, or climate controls, so you'll need to rely on physical mirrors and awareness of your speed. In contrast, rebooting the complete car, including the FSD computer (which handles Autopilot and self-driving features), performs a deeper system reset that affects multiple components, such as the drive computer and potentially safety-critical systems. This can temporarily disrupt functions like Autopilot, cameras, sensors, or even basic driving aids, making it unsafe and impossible to initiate while the vehicle is in motion. It requires the car to be parked with the gear in Park, as attempting it while driving could pose risks or simply not work due to built-in safeguards. Method for Rebooting Just the Display (Can Be Done While Driving) 1. Locate the two scroll buttons (or wheels) on the steering wheel—one on the left and one on the right. 2. Press and hold both buttons simultaneously. 3. Continue holding until the touchscreen turns black (usually after 5-10 seconds). 4. Release the buttons and wait for the screen to restart, which shows the Tesla logo and reloads the interface (about 30 seconds to a few minutes). This method works on all Tesla models, like Model 3, Y, S, or X, and can be performed by the driver or passenger without stopping. Methods for Rebooting the Complete Car and FSD Computer (Must Be Parked, Cannot Be Done While Driving) There are a couple of common approaches, both requiring the vehicle to be stationary in Park for safety. These reset broader systems, including the FSD/Autopilot computer. 1. Using the Power Off Menu (Recommended for a Full System Cycle): - Shift the vehicle into Park and ensure all doors are closed. - On the touchscreen, navigate to Controls > Safety (or Safety & Security on some models). - Tap the Power Off button and confirm if prompted. - Wait at least 2 minutes without touching the brake pedal, opening doors, or interacting with the screen or app—this allows the systems to fully shut down. - To restart, press the brake pedal (or open a door on some models), which wakes the car and reboots everything, including the FSD computer. 2. Using the Steering Wheel Buttons with Brake (Alternative Hard Reset): - Shift into Park. - Press and hold both scroll buttons on the steering wheel while simultaneously pressing the brake pedal. - Continue holding until the touchscreen turns black (about 5-10 seconds). - Release and wait for the system to restart (30 seconds to a few minutes). This reboots the infotainment, drive computer, and FSD/Autopilot systems.

Thank you I’ll give that a try!

How about you drive your car?

I choose not to.

Interesting. We have been getting this a bit lately also. Maybe @CyberMikeOG is right and it is something to do with AT&T? We have AT&T. In any case. Thanks for the soft reset idea.

Oh to have Tesla challenges, what a blessed life💞

Doesn’t it make you nervous to drive hands free when the software is glitching?

Connectivity in my ModelY has been getting progressively worse over the last few months. I'm on the verge of scheduling a service appointment for it.

Our cybertruck and model y have as well. @Tesla

There are places where lack of signal is uncommon enough that people think it's a problem?

I’ve got a launch series model Y, and I’ve never seen that error message. I had absolutely no idea you could do a reset while driving down the road.

Congrats on the new Y! Yeah with Teslas there’s always something new to learn.

Happens all the time for me too. I have to go in and turn the WiFi off, it’s like looking for a WiFi connection instead of LTE which is so annoying! I’ll try this too, thanks!

Mine does it sometimes and I honestly usually ignore it. 🤣

Mine does it all the time, even when I'm still in my garage connected to wifi 🙄

I have a second scheduled appointment for this exact issue on my Model Y Launch Edition It has been happening since I got the car in April and they said it was a firmware issue and didn't have a fix in May. Its super annoying, Grok stops, music stops, can't navigate. They have asked for timestamps and I have given them at least 10 in the last month.

I get this too when using phone WiFi, thought it was my phone, so it's interesting you get this even with the car connectivity. It usually sorts itself out after a while but will try the soft reboot too. If it's a common thing hopefully @Tesla can diagnose and can make it more robust?

Every morning when I put the car into drive, it takes a good 30 seconds to switch from the wifi convection to the LTE network. I feel that should be almost instant. It takes that amount of time to get the music going and the traffic data.

Same thing as any IT error. Reboot. Fixes 95% of all issues

I get the network error occasionally with cybertruck and model y. Seems to be related to poor signal areas. Used to get them in my garage until I added another wifi router on that side of the house.

Hmmm strange. Glad you found a solution. It’s strange because I’ll have excellent signal on my iPhone but the car doesn’t want to connect. 🤷♀️

@makesmethinkof Tesla service says it’s big in the software that should be addressed in a future update.

@makesmethinkof 👍

One thing that might help (didn't much in my case), in WiFi settings there's a setting to disconnect when you put the car in drive. This forces it to use the cellular connection, rather than clinging to the shreds of your WiFi. Might be worth a try.

Nothing to do with your phone. It’s the car searching for signal. Could be your telematics unit going bad. I’d schedule a service appointment

Maybe use sky-net

I had the radio not want to change stations a week ago and again this morning. I was still in my driveway, I jumped out, locked it, and got back in and it worked again..

my model 3 perf does it frequently, but its a '22 intel mcu2 car

I use Apple Music, and network issues vary, but here are some tips: Check network strength at the screen's top, toggle it off and on, or use your phone's hotspot. Avoid this while driving to stay focused on the road. Press the left scroll wheel to quickly resume music; it works 90% of the time. For a soft reset, press both scroll wheels for 10-15 seconds. Don’t do this while driving, as it could cause issues and lead to a crash. For a hard reset, hold the brake and both scroll wheels for 20 seconds. If you try this one while driving just go right ahead and park the car and walk everywhere the rest of your life.

I’ve done the two scroll wheel reset while in FSD so many times and I’ve never had an issue. But, of course. Always prepared for anything. 👍

I’ve never had that error. 5 Teslas.

Thanks for sharing the info fam ❤️
