Aidan O'Connell gets sacked on his final play last night and in my opinion the sack is on the #Raiders QB just as much as it is on LT Andrus Peat. AOC has a 3 step drop which means the play is designed for him to get the ball out quick. If you don't get the ball out then a QB is going to need to Create something. But what you don't want him to do is back pedal into a sack. Peat does lose the rep, but he does a good job recovering and pushing the DE up the field. I think AOC's ability to feel pressure, get away from it, and throw on the run were some things I saw from him last year where he struggled with. So I do hope next week he shows a little bit more in that. Overall the play didn't work because Luke Getsy designed a really poor play where the spacing is off, I will talk about this more on my Youtube channel later today but you can clearly see that Bowers was supposed to be a natural pick for Tre Tucker at the bottom of the screen. But the spacing didn't work and the WR and TE run into each other.

I hate to nitpick but this 3-run moon ball is kind of a rally killer. Small ball keeps the pressure on and turns the lineup over to the better hitters. Especially this early in the game. I’d like to see Shaw be a better teammate in the future

AZ Thomas (bottom) in press vs Chase on the bottom Stays square, gets two hands on Chase forcing him to bow the route far outside. Gets over top and squeezes the route to the sideline Gets contact again, looks for the ball a little late, Chase uses a throwby but AZ is able to get a hand in to break up the pass. Makes a great catch but he isnt ruled with the INT

I think #Eagles QB Jalen Hurts left a big play on the field here to A.J. Brown in the first half. Brown motions to align on the same side as DeVonta Smith, and Smith clears out while Brown runs a deep in-breaker. Hurts seems to look at Brown but turns down the throw and leaves the pocket. Could have even thrown to Jahan Dotson on the corner route at the bottom of the screen.

Final three plays from the Steelers yesterday. First one is double-slant/flat to the trips side. Rodgers expects MVS to continue inside but he whips back out. Second one is another miscommunication between Rodgers and MVS. Rodgers seems to be expecting MVS to hitch/post up but MVS runs a fade. Third one looks like a playground route where Rodgers said in the huddle, “Get open.” Really disappointing that they targeted MVS all three plays. With limited reps between him and Rodgers, the miscommunications are not a surprise. I get having Gainwell chip Garrett, but on at least one of these I would have liked to see them work the ball to Gainwell in space. These are quick throws. Cook could have handled Garrett without help. Also would have liked to work the MOF with Freiermuth. Feels like the Steelers should have had a concept they could run here rather than a bunch of isolation routes.

All clips are taken from the Pittsburgh/Dallas contest from 2024, where Dak Prescott threw for 336 yards in a 20-17 Cowboys win. 1. Horizontal stretches. You can see how Dallas spreads its receivers from one sideline to another to widen the defense, then attacks the seams this stretch creates. To make these designs effective, WRs will need to recognize open areas in zone coverage and sit down in them, and the QB will need to get the ball out accurately and on time.

Josh Allen had 2 chances to win the game and whiffed them on top of 4 turnovers. Managed to completely blow the game for his team. He left it to his kicker and he did his job. Left it to his defense and they gave him the ball first score wins in OT. Couldn’t even get carried.

This should be a simple case of holding position and taking the mark. But where is the body use? Where is the physicality? He has Harry Dean (and credit to Harry for making the spoil) in all sorts of trouble here, but allows him to get to the fall of the ball in a spot King should have owned. Middle infielders: I’m a believer in taking the throw from in-front of the bag on a stolen-base attempt. The main reason why: Catchers aren’t always going to put the ball on the bag. A common miss is arm side, causing the throw to tail towards first base. When you're in-front, you have freedom to move toward a bad throw without the runner sliding underneath or into you. You can catch it, make the tag, and potentially keep a bad throw from getting into center field. If you straddle the bag, your range can become limited once the runner starts sliding in. In order to do this, you must LET THE BALL TRAVEL Don't reach out, catch it early, and then bring your glove back to the runner. You're wasting valuable time. Let the ball travel over the bag and make a quick tag. If he's out → quick tag If he's safe → tag and HOLD IT. Give him a chance to come off the bag. Low to high. #2 D to D (spread the defense out) and find Scheifele who rolled off his check at the dot and found space on a wheel route behind the net to find open ice on the other side of the zone. (Dot width). Aka Get lost in space. Create confusion. #3 Morrissey distributes the puck back down to MS who then corrals the pill and surveys his options while getting his toe caps back down ice towards the net, at worst presenting as a shooting option himself. #4 And the key to this whole play? Offense away from the puck. Kyle Connor recognizes time and space and gets available for a one timer by putting himself in a shooting position leaving the slot and fanning out.
