❓what’s the first thing you do when you get home? 🦊 for starters…i lay down! 🦊 i just take off my clothes and toss them to the side and lay down 🦊 then i feel drowsy and i stay that way for 30 minutes and then slowly head into the shower and then i get drowsy again hehe 🦊 after that, i think i just scroll on my phone or watch a movie and fall asleep 🦊 i want to shower as soon as i finish my schedules for the day…i need to shower immediately but i’m so exhausted that i just lay down as soon as i get back

In 2009, after two back surgeries, my doctors told me I would never walk again without the assistance of a cane or walker. I gave up. l wrote out my suicide note and was ready to end it all. But, in that moment, my three-year-old son Matthew walked into my bedroom and saved my life. I truly believe it was an intervention from God. After that moment, I cried out to God and told him that if he showed me the way, I would put in the hard work to dig myself out of that bed and dig my family out of poverty. My mindset changed. I used to see myself as a victim. I would ask myself "Why me?" After that moment, I started to tell myself "Why not me?" I worked hard to overcome the obstacles I faced in my life and I will work even harder to become the first black Republican elected to Congress in the history of Ohio.
