Beethoven, Symphony No 7

Not a massive fan of Karajan for Beethoven 7, it’s supremely competent of course but too string heavy. Blomstedt at Dresden gives the authentic Central European, woodwind heavy style better.

The genius and grandeur of Europe in one piece of music

The genius in classical is the story you can create when you close your eyes and listen. Not sure many other genres come close to this if at all.
