Before melodic rap became the formula, Murder Inc. already mastered it… Ja Rule was the blueprint. Hooks, street records, radio hits — all in one “Down Ass Chick” with Charli Baltimore was part of that early run. History doesn’t credit him enough

Joe Calzaghe dominates Jeff Lacy. Calzaghe was the underdog going in with not many giving him a chance, especially in the US. Lacy became a bit of a joke after this but credit to him he took one of the biggest ass whoopins in the history of ass whoopins. Respect to Lacy

Lil Wayne tells the story of how he ended up signing both Drake & Nicki Minaj, saying he knew right away that they had something special: "When I heard him, it was all rap. Then, one of those hooks came in and I was like, 'Who's on the hook?' And they was like, 'That's him.' And I was like, 'That's the guy? That's him singing? Why he ain't do more of this?'" "It was instant. Like, come on, man. And, at that time, there was no one doing that sh*t." (Via Friends Keep Secrets)

haruto was right in front of the goal when junkyu scored. i noticed no haruto in the group hug, turns out he was already on the ground with muscle cramps. the sweetest part, junkyu was already standing beside him worried “are you okay?” and in the middle of it all, haruto: “nice one, junkyu!” aw, my harukyu ☺️

Keyboard Cat is one of the earliest examples of the internet turning absolute nonsense into history. The original cat was Fatso, filmed by Charlie Schmidt back in 1984, decades before the clip became famous. It was uploaded to YouTube in 2007, then exploded in 2009 when people started using it to “play off” fails, awkward moments, and public embarrassment. Before reaction memes became a whole language, this cat was already ending careers with a keyboard.

Adrián Beltré was already a Rangers legend and one of the greatest third basemen baseball had ever seen. On July 30, 2017, hit No. 3,000 made his place in history impossible to argue. Beltré doubled down the left-field line. His family joined the celebration as he became the 31st player in MLB history and the first Dominican-born player to reach 3,000 hits. That was Beltré in Texas. Greatness, joy, and a ballpark that loved him right back.

On April 30th, 8:24 AM, Kendrick Lamar delivered 6 minutes and 24 seconds of pure character breakdown that forever changed the way people look at diss tracks. Pieced together was a lyrical assassination that went beyond rap beef, targeting Drake’s character, business dealings, his cultural appropriation, and the deep need for validation that seemed to drive all of it, going after the man behind the image more than the image itself. It was the kind of surgical disrespect Hip-Hop hadn’t seen in years, delivered with patience, precision, and the confidence of someone who already knew how it would end. Released as a YouTube exclusive before hitting streaming platforms later that day, the record instantly took over every timeline and became one of the biggest rap moments of 2024. Many called it “the song that ended the battle before it even started,” and one of the best records to come out of the entire feud. Little did we know, this was only the beginning of one of the wildest weeks Hip-Hop has ever seen, and “Euphoria” will forever be recognized as one of the greatest diss tracks in history!

Another throwback. In 2017, then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went on BBC Radio One to talk to the hosts. One of which was Adele, who was taking part in the London Marathon to raise funds for charity heads together. I thought I heard early before that Prince William did not like spicy foods. Clip from BBC Radio one.

Few debut singles have left a bigger mark than "Teenage Kicks". After hearing it for the first time, BBC Radio 1's John Peel was so overwhelmed he played it twice in succession, helping launch The Undertones onto the national stage. Bursting with youthful energy and unforgettable hooks, the song became one of the defining records of the late-1970s punk era and remains a timeless classic.

The tifo before the UCL tie with Barcelona in 2012 was a thing of beauty. Given it was Celtic's 125th birthday and they managed to beat a peak Barcelona side that night, it was perhaps one of the best European night's in the club's history.

Gene Deal claims he once overheard Ja Rule & Diddy "talking crazy" about Jay-Z and taking credit for his success: "He was talking bad and talking crazy about Jay-Z... Ja was talking about, if it wasn't for him, that Jay wouldn't be the artist he was. He got him started, you know, he wrote certain things and stuff like that to put him out there. Because, you know, back in the day, nobody was even effing with Jay like that. But Puff was adamant about Ja going at Jay." (Via The Art Of Dialogue)

The Game Boy was launched in 1989, sold almost 120 million units, and was eventually discontinued in 2003 - an incredible lifespan for a handheld console, the longest ever, unless I am overlooking another? One of the games that was availabe with the launch was Super Mario Land, and it became one of its highest selling titles (18 million cartridges), being part of the early and massive success of the Game Boy. By the way, all this with a mere 8 KB of RAM. That's 1/8th of the good old C64. Super Mario Land was essentially a perfect game, getting the absolute maximum out of the Game Boy at the time. I remember that even my mother and sister playing it, while before that computers games were really not their thing at all.
