My parents took me to IAD for the first time sometime in the 80’s as a child. It had such a profound effect on my life and back then, the airport was basically surrounded by farmland. It goes together with the photo below, one of my favorite airlines which Lufthansa and one of my favorite movies which is DC Cab. Finnish architect Eero Saarinen was hired as the architect of the main terminal. It’s iconic and I get excited every time I fly into this airport as it’s my first time even to this day. ❤️

On the 21st of June 2022, 4 years ago, when I was still a surgeon, I had no social media presence of significance, and a year before I started my podcast, I attended this meeting. I listened to Aseem Malhotra and Jay Battachyria essentially say that mistakes were made, and it was simply well-intentioned people who made mistakes during covid. To say I was disappointed was a huge understatement. When the mic was given over to the floor, I was the first to speak. And what was their response? They didn't have any.

I made a quick sketch and transformed it into a hyper-realistic image in a matter of minutes. Here's what that looked like! The detail level in the final version almost make me question our reality.. almost😅 Speaking of that, this actually reminds me of the feeling I had after walking out of the cinema from having watched the first Matrix movie. The sketch was made using Leonardo AI's new live painting tool that transform my sketch in realtime as I'm drawing. The tools are quite rudimentary still, and I'm hoping for screen capture support so I can test this out with Dreams and Photoshop. The Matrix detail level was achieved with Magnific ai. #conceptart #ai

When I left the care home, I didn’t step into independence. I stepped into deaper isolation. The one place that had offered even a small sense of safety was gone. There was no safe space to return to. My vulnerabilities didn’t improve, they grew. I was still a child, but suddenly I was expected to survive alone. I had no control over my life. No real choices. No power. I was completely at the mercy of the people who were exploiting and abusing me.
