They received three to five hours of lessons each day. 2) Due to Hagrid's immense size, Robbie Coltrane had a mini body double! His double, Martin Bayfield, often stood in for scenes where Hagrid's full body was shown. 3) Throughout the series, 588 sets were created. The Whomping Willow tree was built as a model, and filmmakers used makeup to age it as the series progressed. 4) The filmmakers originally used real candles to create the floating candles effect in the Great Hall, but they quickly turned to safer CGI effects when the candles began to melt and fall.
