Beijing is not a "relaxing" city. It's an assault on the senses — chaotic but safe, old but futuristic, crowded but somehow orderly. Go for the history. Stay for the Jianbing. Come back for the stuff you missed.

I'll be back in Beijing at the end of the week, I'm going to the Robot Mall and perhaps the Beijing Auto Show,hopefully it won't be too crowded due to the holidays, perhaps it will be quiter during the holiday period with locals leaving Beijing to go elsewhere

The Robot Mall is a good call. Was closed last week due to the Robot marathon, but should be reopen now.

So is Shanghai. Catch the fast train from Shanghai to Beijing- fast, clean, comfortable and you see China on the way up. Then maybe go west to see amazing Western China.
