This isn't only Beijing Uni. I studied in a middle of nowhere university in a poor city in China. Lunch time was legit! Weird that I still remember the deliciousness.

Did not study in China but I have been there for work, can confirm. Good quality meals are provided either free or very cheap, it's quite amazing.

I spent a few weeks in China during a work trip at an automotive company. This is what meal times looked like. Culturally being well fed is seen as a job perk.

It's actually a Shitty meal. You ll never find beef lamb or normal fish in this kind of canteen. It's always fatty pork and chicken Sometimes game fish paired with refined carbohydrates.
