I was helping a little Black girl with her schooling. I knew she was intelligent but she would keep insisting she could not do the school work. She finally admitted she did not want to be able to write (she went from unintelligible printing to perfect written script in a week or so) or do her maths because the other Black kids would mock her for showing off. Black people are their own worst enemies. She was struggling in grade two and I had her doing grade for maths in a few months. All the while she was insisting she could not do it.
