Being able to identify hoaxes, avoid scams, and debunk propaganda is a civic skill required in today’s information society. That’s why the curriculum of students in Finland includes media literacy lessons, aimed at safeguarding a precious resource: the truth.

Finland education ranking: 7 United States: 29 Finland has no private schools, all are publicly funded.

That’s the kind of forward-thinking education we need everywhere! Knowing how to separate fact from fiction is becoming as essential as reading and writing in today’s world. 👏📚

And yet you are not fact checking the VP debate. You capitulate.

Logic and critical thinking should be required in US schools.

@jennycohn1 The truth you say... The truth is important, you say? But, you won't fact checked the VP debate.... How's that square with "the truth is important" exactly?

Findland has been universally recognized as having the best public educational system in the world. Why is it the best? Massive increases in funding and policy changes decades ago, incl, huge support for teacher training AND giving teachers a primary role in decisionmaking.

This needs to be a required class in U.S. schools. Or some historical propaganda classes. I took a tour of a WW2 propaganda museum exibit in 2010. It was fascinating to see disinformation examples from the past. I never forgot those examples during Trump's presidency.

The IRONY of yall posting this on the day CBS says their "journalists" will not fact check the VP debate.

This is really sad considering @CBSNews has largely abdicated their journalistic responsibility to challenge blatant falsehood. Is there any of Walter Cronkite's DNA laying around? You guys need to remember his legacy.

When will @CBSSunday apologizefor all the hoaxes they have promoted on the air. Would Lesley Stahl like to lead off?
