Caleb is 100% correct about this, and it's not even questionable. It's one thing for a parent to really try to prevent this and fail compared to just not really trying, but a son especially is going to make sure their parents are taken care of, even to sacrifice aspects of their own life if they're raised right, regardless if the parents intentionally instilled that in their kid or not.

Parents: is your kid impossible to talk to? It turns out, the secret to communication lies in one simple thing: texting. Becoming regular texters is the best thing my parents and I have ever done for our relationship – and it might save yours, too. Read this to learn why:

I hope his kids see this so when he's homeless and eating from a dumpster, they won't feel obligated or guilty.

Men like this are the reason the Irish had to start car dealerships so the one goo child could support all seven of the alcoholics.

The only person who wouldn't believe that is true is someone who is either morally corrupt or genuinely hates their parents for some reason.

While I agree- you have to understand this is a brand new idea- that’s 50 years old in our 200,000 year history as a species. Never before have we had the wealth and luxury to contemplate this. Children were always the only retirement plan…

Caleb is correct. My dad has an eighth grade education. Worked labor gigs most his life. Never really had a 401k. Now he’s getting near the age. That morale obligation is felt.

If their parents can’t financially support themselves there’s a near 100% chance their kids won’t be able to support them, or theirselves, either. Financial irresponsibility is almost always a perpetual cycle passed down from parents to kids.
