Being obsessed with happiness can make us unhappy. Joy doesn't arise from ruminating about our emotions. It comes from immersing ourselves in worthwhile experiences. Happiness is not a goal to pursue. It's a byproduct of leading a life of meaning and engagement. Trevor Noah

@Trevornoah You are happy when you do something you are so passionate about that you have no time to wonder whether you are happy or not.

@Trevornoah Absolutely, it's about finding fulfillment in meaningful moments rather than chasing an elusive state of constant happiness. Well said!

@Trevornoah I disagree and I disagree with most commenters here. I was already unhappy as a child and after 40 years I came to the conclusion that it is unethical to let happiness be an ephemeral, secondary, coincidental quality. Let's not mystify it but understand it and make more of it.

@Trevornoah Chasing happiness like a goal can be a trap—true joy comes from living meaningfully and engaging fully in life’s experiences.

@markhenick @Trevornoah What would be the effect of being thankful for each meal. Being grateful 3 to five times a day would make most of us mindful. They used to call it grace.

@Trevornoah could be a moment of meaning and engagement as well. wouldn't want to wait a whole lifetime (but I'm sure that's not what you meant)
