Continuing our listening tour, I engaged with stakeholders at the Pretoria Institute for Architecture on how Tshwane can grow infrastructure and unlock jobs. Despite there being claims of astronomical figures in investment, high bills are still choking Tshwane residents and I’m here to find realistic solutions from experts in this sector. We must ensure pledges turn into real projects that benefit residents and communities across the city.

The number of informal settlements in the City of Tshwane have skyrocketed from 220 in 2019 to 575 as recorded this year. Tomorrow, at the City’s council meeting, we will be presenting a plan to provide dignity and a lifeline for residents who reside in informal settlements. The murders at Marry Me wouldn’t have happened had we as a government done our jobs to protect and safe guard our communities. We have outsourced the duty to protect our citizens, and that is unjustifiable. City of Tshwane

The Tshwane ANC PR Mayor has a choice to make. Stand up for Tshwane residents and protect a city manager blocking corrupt tenders. Or do what the ANC tells her and look the other way. We all know which one she will choose. Because that seat means more to her than the people she is supposed to serve.

Tshwane Mayor cuts power to Shoprite over unpaid R7.3 million debt City of Tshwane Mayor Dr Nasipha Moya visited the Shoprite store in Arcadia, taking decisive action against the retailer for an outstanding municipal debt of R7,343,502.57. Accusing the company of prioritizing profits over its financial obligations to the city, Moya ordered the electricity disconnection. She emphasized that large businesses operating in Tshwane must fulfill their responsibility to pay their debts.

Residents of Tshwane, please support our effort to remove illegal electricity connections. Don’t fight our work. Illegal electricity connections not only steal revenue for services, but they also pose a danger to the lives of residents. While we normalise electricity distribution in areas that don’t have supply, it is important that we remove illegal connections first to stabilise the network. #TshwaneIDP City of Tshwane

Investment into the City of Tshwane is key for Economic Growth and Job creation. Fundamental to this is stable electricity supply to ensure our business and industries can function. We met with leaders of industry to learn how to achieve this and their input is clear - have a clear road map and be serious about implementing it! In preparation for governing the City of Tshwane after the 2026 local Government Election, we are undertaking a listening tour to engage stakeholders of different sectors to inform pledges that we will make to the people of Tshwane.
